Also watched Halloween (2018) the other day. It's a bit of a gore fest and not that great despite the reviews. It also retcons out all the other sequels and states Laurie Strode is not Myers' sister. Worth a watch if you like the franchise. Expect more to follow.

Worth a watch if you like the franchise. Expect more to follow. I thought it was great. Detailing his descent into madness added so much more depth to the character. Having him coldly kill the one person who was on his side from his first day (Danny Trejo) established there is simply no reaching him. He actually seemed ready to stop, if not for Laurie rejecting him. And that family was SO convincingly dysfunctional. And his older sister was HOT. EDIT: But I digress

Having watched Halloween (2018) recently, I decided to rewatch Halloween and Halloween II. Halloween is still an excellent movie and looks superb in HD. Even though you know where all the scares are, it still stands out as a well crafted horror. Halloween II on the other hand is utter rubbish. I'd forgotten how bad it was. Pleasence and Curtis look like they're parodying the characters from the first movie... or just can't be bothered. And there is no suspense throughout the entire movie! It's basically Myers killing everyone he comes across in some 80s attempt at a shockfest. The music is a second rate knock off and doesn't create the tension it did in the original.
I fully support the latest movie retconning all the previous sequels
I'm off to watch III now
{Spoiler} Which doesn't count as it's not a Michael Myers movie.

I continued with my Halloween Fest last night by (attempting) to watch Halloween H20. The HDR only recorded half of it What I saw wasn't bad for a 90s movie but it was full of 90s pomp... Humour, music, teens in peril. That sort of malarkey.
Turns out that movie retconned out everything after II. So H20 retcons IV-VI, and Halloween (2018) retcons II, H20, and Resurrection. It's almost like a DC reboot

Mortal Engines... If you have a spare 2 hours, watch something else. It wasn't bad but relied heavily on the action scenes to quash the absurdity of the plot. Steampunk cities on wheels?! Multiple coincidences and fortuitous encounters driving the plot?! The only thing that kept me watching was Stephen Lang's character. I won't say anymore just in case anyone wants to watch it.
"We have to stop London before it destroys us." That about sums it up.

I finally watched Ant-Man. Well, the first half. It just became tedious and I lost interest. I might try again.

Hellboy (2019)
I expected it to be really bad because of negative reviews, but I enjoyed it. The 2004 Hellboy movie is still the best IMO.

It was a low budget, straight-to-dvd movie, that started pretty well and then went really bad about 2/3rds of the way through. Ideal for the shorter attention span and no need to watch the end

You really have to take Marvel movies with a grain of salt, and you have to suspend all common sense when it comes to Sony comic movies. Still, the Xman and Wolverine franchises sucked royal balls.
AntMan and IronMan were good. Not awesome, but good. Guardians was entertaining, but Vol2 was seriously lacking depth. Thor was bleh.
I am looking forward to Dr. Strange2, the first one was actually rather well done.
Anyone seen Joker? From non comic guys, I get the feeling it delves into mental disorder deeply, have heard people say it makes them extremely uncomfortable. I'd like a comic guy opinion on it, all I know so far is that you have no reference until the end of the movie, basically. Personally, I can tolerate Leif Phoenix, but overall, his acting isn't all that great. As for this iteration of joker, I think I'll probably like it, for someone akined him to Ledgers Joker. I liked Ledgers take, but still feel Nicholson did a great job. I wont bother with suicide squads joker, for one, I refuse to watch that movie and two, I can't stand the actor, whatever his name is. Keeps escaping me. I think his best role was Paul Allen in American Psycho, and his only good scene was when he was hacked up by Christian Bale.

I liked it. Jovovich was good and sexy, though a shower might have helped with the 1500 years in a box thing. I remember seeing David Harbour for years as a character actor on shows like Law & Order. Good for Him! He did just fine

I'm going to wait until it comes out on Blu-Ray. I've never seen the point of having Joker as the lead character. He's a villain. Without Batman it almost seems pointless.

Yeah, I feel the same. While having a piece or back story can be interesting, I'd prefer the hero character to balance things out. I'm trying to think of my favorite villains but not sure any of them could carry a story long term on their own. I have heard very positive Joker reviews, so maybe they came up with a way to present him as a standalone character.
