Also watched the first three Friday the 13th movies and these were also pretty whatever. The plot of all three is basically the same. How did this franchise ever attain the success and popularity that it did? They aren't even particularly scary. They're pretty bad. But...I sneaked to watch while my older sister and her friends watched it on HBO when I was 10 or so...and the scene where Jason jumps out of the lake scared me worse than I have ever been scared in my entire life, and scarred the hell out of me, to the point that it haunted me throughout my teens. I was in no way psychologically prepared to process it at that age. Even to this day, nearly 40 years later, I can't watch the scene without flinching, and I even tried a submersion technique, watching it over and over again, to see through the cheesy makeup and effects. It was a masterful scene...incredibly effective. Far more effective than even having Mrs. Vorhees head chopped off, because you could SEE that coming. But not something any 10 year old should be watching. I would never let anyone under the age of about 15 watch them. The other scene that did a number on me was the ax to the head scene in the bathroom.

Oh, and the scene where Kevin Bacon is lying on the cot smoking, and that drill bit or whatever is forced through his neck. Can't get on a cot or bed to this day without checking underneath...

Watched some early Bond films and they are pretty meh, to be honest. I thought the best one so far was the You Only Live Twice. The lone Lazenby movie was surprisingly good but the ending was dumb. I'm on Diamond Are Forever right now. "He had a lot of guts."

It's funny I remember that, but not that it was Kevin Bacon The only reason I know it was Kevin Bacon was because years and years later, I read a "before they were famous" article, and couldn't believe he was in it. "Footloose" was one of those movies that had a profound impact on me. John Lithgow. Such a great actor.

He is. I don't think I've seen anything from him I didn't like- And he was brilliant on 3rd Rock From The Sun. "Great costume, Dick. Where's your Buccaneers?" "Under my buckin' hat!"

Decades ago I saw a film called Scavenger Hunt, and loved it. It wasn't brilliant, like It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, but it's cut from the same cloth. I finally found it available on dvd, and shared it with the family, worrying it wouldn't be as fun as it once was. I was not disappointed It was still just as funny, and even my grandson laughed. The only thing I'd change: Vincent Price's character, Game Inventor Milton Parker , mentions a former Business partner (name not mentioned). His partner's name should have been Bradley Brothers- That would have completed the joke.

I've never watched any of those movies, but dang that's pretty brutal. I can't believe people were freaking out with the Joker shooting people and people were okay with someone getting a drill bit screwed into their neck.

Just watched this...
With the exception of some ridiculously unnecessary gore (one scene), it's not bad for a low budget horror. Interesting, if not exactly great twist at the end. Worth a watch if you've a spare 90 minutes.

Last night I watched Overlord (2018). I recommend watching it without reading the synopsis or seeing the trailer. That way the events that unfold will be more of a surprise. Better than average movie with some great special effects.
