And I'd like to specifically mention that altering a person's forum name can be a form of trolling/taunting or even considered a personal or vulgar attack. Please treat members of other forums with respect. This is not to say that you cannot voice your opinion of something they have said or done, just don't call them names or alter their forum name into a sign of disrespect. The Moderators here are comic collectors, but to my knowledge they have never been to the CGC Forum. So they won't catch (nor would I expect them to) CGC Forum name manipulation. Because of this, I'm going to be giving them a short list of names to help them, and I'm encouraging everyone to report it when they see it here. Let's face it, most of you would be irritated or upset if members on another forum were altering your forum name from Bartman to Fartman (or whatever).  Don't do it. Play nice. I also want to take this opportunity to say that I have always liked and respected CGC Mike (Comicdonna). Most of you have never moderated a forum. I can tell you from experience it's not an easy task. No matter what you do or how hard you try to do the right thing, someone is almost always going to be upset with the outcome. This forum encourages free speech, so you are welcome to express your opinions. I'm not weighing in...I don't even know the issues. Just know that Mike is almost certainly trying his best to do the right thing over there, and it's not an easy job he's faced with. Try to cut him a little slack.  |

I genuinely feel sorry for Mike because it looks like he was caught off guard and didn't see this coming. Hopefully he finds a new job quickly. I hope I'm wrong but I think I heard that he bought a house near CGC.

I hope I'm wrong but I think I heard that he bought a house near CGC. He lived in the area (a bit further out) and he worked remotely a lot of the time. I hate the way corporations deal with employees but I understand why they do it. You don't get warned when this happens. You get walked to the door and handed a severance package (hopefully). |

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if firing Mike was the first step in getting rid of the forums.
I'm aware that the forums provide some benefits to CGC, but I think overall they are a huge liability to them.

I was actually going to start a thread to ask who the moderators are and if there has been any moderator action taken in the last 3 or 4 days since Mike was canned - registry, website or otherwise, as it seems there aren't ANY. The Forums aren't working today for me, so I can't seem to reply or quote anything or even start a thread. The screen just jumps to the top of the page when I try to reply to someone. Is this the Invision meltdown happening in real time now that Mike isn't patching it up? Is anyone else having trouble posting over there? |

That place is starting to unravel quick. Made the decision to stick with the plan and do another culling and listing items. I purposely decided to stay in and start that process while the Tyson Paul fight and undercard were on tonight. I said it in the threads, I do not see that place lasting another few years. I tried multiple browsers on various devices and it will not load in. The ability to start a thread exists but once created it cannot be replied to. |
