Hi guys, Here's my two cents.  I think there's a very good chance that CGC will shut down their entire forum. It costs them hosting fees and employee wages to keep it running, and I don't think they need it now like they did when they were first starting out in the industry. I think they view it as nothing more than a liability and an annoyance. Sure, they're aware of some of the positive benefits, but I don't think it means much to them; you can tell by the way they are acting and the way they are treating people. It's pretty awful. Given the above, I think the highest deletion risk area of the remaining forum is the sales area. CGC has little control over it, and hosting it is a risk and an expense to them. I'm actually surprised they didn't nuke it at the same time that they deleted the Water Cooler and everything else. I can't see why they'd want to keep it around, the negatives outweigh the positives. I'm willing to host it here, and I have some time available this weekend. Alternatively, if you just want to use this forum for storage until you find a different forum, that's fine too. Just don't wait around, I think time is limited. At the very least, someone should store all the historical information so it's available when needed (rules, probation lists, HOS list, etc., etc.) Watch them nuke the sales thread in the middle of Dale's end of the year sales threads. |

CGC deleted that thread. And I'm guessing they would not allow me to post it again. So we're down to word of mouth. Please tell your CGC friends and buddies they are welcome here, and I'll make a little header for the top of the forum that basically says the same thing.  |

Discord is off and running with 150 people now but I really have trouble with the layout. Not a fan.
I much prefer a well visually laid out forum like this one.

Discord is blocked at the workplace, at least at the moment. Our security settings are so wonky, they change with the breeze. I used to be able to get onto Discord a year or so ago, but no longer. I've never had this forum blocked, but CGC was blocked for a year or so a while back. You just neve rknow. Anyway, this is generally a worktime activity for me so I likely won't get to visit the Discord. Sadness.

It's vertical, making lots of scrolling necessary, and organizationally to me its a mess.
But some of my friends absolutely LOVE it and say it's the future.
I think it really comes down to each individual personality.
I personally like visual structure and order and a great physical layout is far easier to navigate to me, but others are cool with just jumping and scrolling around.
What is really surprising to me is how big of an effect this CGC shift has had.
There are probably 200 people who have started new accounts (between here and Discord).
Which one will grow into being the spot is still up in the air, but some of the older CGC boardies have settled into the Gold is $500 thread without skipping a beat as though they were always there.
The way that Discord group has exploded, it looks like it has legs.
