I just tried to post at CGC, and can't. It let's me sign in, but quote and reply don't work. Hi Ditch  I have glanced over here from time to time, but never signed up. I did that now to thank you for making the offer to members to join and to thank you for posting the link for Mike's thread. The timing on this board mess is not convenient, we were in the midst of a helping thread, but life is not often convenient.
Kav, I have expected to see you back on the other boards, for months...nice to see you are thriving here.

Hi Sha! It's great to see you over here. I can only imagine how disruptive and inconvenient this "board mess" is to all those who are trying their best to help. I ran across your "Donation" Sales Thread in the G/S/B area and have updated the forum footer to include the link. I'm calling it the Comic Book Sales Thread Fundraiser. If that's not right and you'd like a different name, just let me know and I'll change it. Hopefully, the boards are fixed in a timely manner so people can continue to help. I have no doubt that the help will continue for quite some time. Mike is a popular guy and a lot of people want to make sure he's ok. |

People are posting profanity and politics and no hammers have come down.
I really think it's going to be "moderation by feel", meaning if they get enough notifications, they'll just lay the hammer down.

I saw that CGC was shutting down several areas of their forum. The biggest was probably the Water Cooler. I wonder if the sales area is next? I've opened the forum up, making the "Community" and "Administration" boards visible to everyone (whether a logged in member or not). My intention is to give CGC people a friendly place to talk about what's going on, store data, have fun, etc. If this forum is not your cup of tea, no problem. I'm just trying to help out. By the way, the PM system here is excellent, and unlike CGC, it is 100% private. No one can ever see your private messages; not me, not the mods, no one. |

You just love talking about me.  Are you sure that buttock was actually banned on the CGC forums? His account is still showing up, and it looks like he reacted to a post two hours ago. boards.cgccomics.com/profile/1271-buttock/Buttock texted me a screen shot of his screen.
It said "BANNED". 
But I was co-incidentally at CGC today in person and spoke to them about it, and they told me he wasn't actually banned, that's what his account showed to him as they were cleaning up his posts.
So it seems that someone over there tripped a button banning him, when in fact, it should have been just a temporary suspension.
He's probably been reinstated now.
But CGC also told me in no uncertain terms that the plan was to get rid of the Watercooler for a while. It was just dead weight to them with nothing but aggravation being caused by some people, and they had no need for it any longer.
Ditch Fahrenheit Fahrenheit, can we rename the General Discussion area the Water Cooler? I think that would be a cool nod towards the history of the old WC on the CGC boards.

For nearly two decades, CGC had a forum full of (mostly) loyal customers who were fans of their service and strongly supported them. Now look at them. In just a few short years, they have managed to turn a large portion of the people on their OWN forums against them. I'm still trying to figure out how they could take a much loved company and screw it up so completely. Seriously.....how do you f*** something up that badly and not even realize that you're doing it? |

I'm not saying it's happening, but it is within the realm of possibility for firms to undermine discussions that go against their interests. I am aboslutely floored that the following two threads aren't locked yet: - Is anyone else getting books back with warped inner wells?
- Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???
I'm guessing that will change in the not so distant future. |
