These are the kinds of "official" comments that raise red flags and get my antenna wobbling: This is from "Darrel", whoever that is. The comments may be innocuous...and not what he meant...but the way it comes across is that customer "service" is telling a customer the way it is, and they need to accept it and move on. It may be unfortunate phrasing...but it is absolutely not the way you should phrase something to a customer. It comes off as if the issue was "resolved" to CBCS' satisfaction...NOT the customer's. And this would be in line with CBCS' "we're here as a favor to you, so you mind your Ps and Qs and we'll get along just fine" corporate attitude. I'm telling you...a company who understands how to deal with and talk to customers would mop the floor with CGC and CBCS. Yeah, it appeared as if he was talking down to him. As long as CBCS is satisfied with the explanation then the matter is "resolved".

I would post a relatively naughty picture of a button humping a button, but...you know....

I do get along well with a few guys there. I also play nice with others whom the week before I strongly disagreed, just like the real world. Others I avoid, and they avoid me.

Probably just a matter of (short) time intil Florida (thus CGC) follows suit. Considering that spring breakers in Florida congegated en masse this past month, I think it won't be too long til CCS/CGC stops pressing/grading books for a while. What will be interesting is how CBCS & CGC will start *grading* books when they reopen. My guess is that we will go into a soft grading period for a good amount of time as we are headed into about 30% unemployment in the US i.e. an economic creash worse than the Great Depression. If you consider the grading resulting charts in the (now deleted) "Is CGC grading tight now?" thread, grading at CGC was historically "soft" after the 2007 housing bubble popped. My take is that CGC loosened up grades given out after the 2007 crash, to encourage more submissions. Reference: forum.cbcscomics.com/topic/6376/page/1/a-guideline-to-cpring-cgc-slabs/

There'd still be a backlog of books to catch up on, and when random cons occur I'd expect creator turnout to be strong, so sigs and sketches would show an uptick. The creators will need these gigs to recoup lost income from however long this lasts. There will be a downturn in subs related to the publishing hiatus, but it still seems the reserve of older books to be slabbed will make up the difference(at least for a time).

No, that's not what I was getting at.
Sure, if they stop taking subs for a while, they'll get a bunch of subs when they start taking them again.
That will be a short burst though and if we hit Great Depression level unemployment like is projected, the market will take a beating.
Market takes a prolonged beating & IMO (mostly based on the chart in the linked thread in my last post, see how the grades softened up around 2008-2009) then CGC will soften up their grading to encourage more market activity (more submissions to CGC).
It actually makes pretty decent business sense & I hope they do this.
