Ditch, is there a time limit for getting a "participated" update alert? I posted in this thread a while ago, but I forgot about it because it stopped snowing up in the Participated link. Just wondering. I've always used the "participated" link, but I realized it doesn't work for all the threads(for me).

More. I'm getting the impression he doesn't like CGC very much.

When I first joined, I used the participated link but found subjects "drop off" if you don't post in them. I now use bookmarking.

Whole lotta butthurt. Also many comments about knowing nothing about 'windows'. I like that.

I wonder how many of these people would think it would be weird if they were handed a birthday card to sign for a co-worker and be told to only sign it within "this area".

Of the many people 'standing up' for the "real fan's" who want a signed and flawless keeper, I wonder how many are those people, and not flippers in panic mode.

When did this become the responsibility of the creators? As far as I'm concerned, if someone wants to turn something that wasn't originally intended to be big money collectables into a business for profit, you take your chances.

Anyone see this? linkVery interesting... Unless I missed it - which is quite possible - Mr Jimenez didn't say why he finds it "so irritating" or "frustrating". I think we know the answer but it would be nice to see his statement supported by a little background information. Don't get me wrong. I don't disagree with his statement... As an individual, it's his choice. But will this remain just with the individuals or are we going to see rules being imposed? And if rules are to be imposed, who is going to make the rules? The creators or their employers? This creator will sign a window but this one won't. This creator will sign a window for a fee. This creator would sign a window but their employer won't let them. Whatever happens, the net result will be disappointed fans... The people who pay the money for comic books. And let's not forget, they are individuals too. Some like to collect Signature Series books. Some like to collect signatures with a perfect placement. Some like a signature anywhere. Rules will exclude some of those fans. Food for thought, perhaps?

Of the many people 'standing up' for the "real fan's" who want a signed and flawless keeper, I wonder how many are those people, and not flippers in panic mode. Why would they be flippers in panic mode...? The reality remains: the value of almost every signed book out there is in the book's condition...not its signature. I can't say that enough. A signature only makes high grade key books slightly more valuable. A signature adds nothing to a non-high grade book, and very little to a high grade non-key. Unless your name is "Steve Ditko", and you created Spider-Man...or you're DEAD...chances are good, your signature isn't doing anything but AMPLIFYING value that is already PRESENT before the book in question is ever signed. If every single creator decided no longer to sign for CGC, guess what happens...? Nothing. People with high grade books they want to sell will simply slab them, and get a good chunk of what they were going to get with it signed, and the people with garbage books, "hoping" that a sig will cover up the garbageness of those books, will go back to whatever it is they were doing before Sig Series. This doesn't hurt anyone except the people who genuinely enjoyed collecting Sig Series, of which I was one, and creators who turn fans off.

As far as I'm concerned, if someone wants to turn something that wasn't originally intended to be big money collectables into a business for profit, you take your chances. DC, Marvel, et al, Diamond, and every store that exists sell comic books as a business for profit. Action Comics #1 wasn't intended to be a big money collectible. It turned out that way, nonetheless. It's not the responsibility of the creators. It's also, however, none of their business what someone wishes to do with his/her property. They can't have it both ways.
