I posted a few low grade ECs on eBay over the weekend. Just flipping through them to count the pages and what not, I was once again struck by how mature and well done these comics were, at least compared to the other publishers of the time. Like capturing lightning in a bottle.

Unfortunately Krigstein is probably my least favorite EC artist. |

Unfortunately Krigstein is probably my least favorite EC artist. I did quite like this art he drew for Vault of Horror #39 (October, 1954). Some may say the faces are a little too awkward, but this in particular fell in just all in the right places for me.  |

Love me some EC... just paid for my copy of Weird Fantasy 21 this evening. I'm stalled at 247 original ECs. The only ones left that I want are super pricey (#1s mostly). Even low grade EC prices are going crazy! I got REAAAAAAAAAAL lucky last year. I was buying up those Crime Suspenstories 15's where he is burying her alive for $100-$125... one came back a 4.5 and the other a 6.5. I still have another raw copy i have to send down to be graded. I agree... I cannot find that book anymore at that price. I want to build up some of a warchest again. I am weighing my options between another comic book I have been chasing and another mini home improvement. |
