If I manage to find one of these, I'll have no compunctions about selling it to one of those "ignorant" collectors that want to pay a super-inflated price. I've got kids to feed, and 32 hrs a week at work barely pays the bills. I'm glad to hear you would be willing to sell. If you find one in FN or better condition, please send me a message and I would gladly pay $100 for it. I've already asked RockMyAmadeus and he isn't parting with his for now. Am I greedy?... definitely not. I've never speculated on variants. I just enjoy the hunt and the pride of ownership. I love the academic approach that RockMyAmadeus brings to collecting. When Rocky created this thread, I also tipped my hat to him via a post in this thread....which I deleted shortly thereafter. I also pulled the "like" I put on his opening post in this thread. I'll spill the beans as to why I did those 2 things now.....I didn't want to add any interest onto this book until I snagged a copy for myself. That said, I give my apologies to Rocky/OrganicSquishee. He deserves to be applauded for the detective work on this book, as well as his discovery of a Robin 1 2nd print newsstand. Although, Ditch put the Robin 1 2nd print newsstand right in his lap, by Ditch's posting of an eBay seller, per the Bat 457 2nd print and Robin 1 2nd print newsstand threads, on this board..... |

See where this newsstand crap has led?  pathetic. X-51 I believe this to be the only cover used for newsstand distribution. I looked for others when it came out and this was the only one I saw after scouring many spinner racks. shrewbeer @x51 that's what I thought for a very long time, until I came across a magneto cover by chance! From there it was quite fun hunting them, and I eventually managed to find all in NM+. The beast cover was by far the most difficult to track. They currently reside in my CBCS submission pile (one of my "grails" is now a full 9.4+ newsstand set, hoping I have it!), I'll try to get some pics up later shrewbeer Here you go 🤗 This took some work to put together, and was one of my favorite hunts. Probably bought 17-20 books until I had a set that was satisfactory in grade, these were tough to find  These people are ignorant children, "administered" by people who are also ignorant children, or company men with jobs they think they need to protect. And that's really a shame, because I was hoping for better. So, I wouldn't take anything they say seriously. Interesting reading. Kind of digging up old bones quoting a post from a year ago, but FYI That newsstand set graded out to 9.8s and this past April sold on the CBCS boards for $1,500 after being listed at $2,500 for less than 2 hours. This newsstand trend has legs. |

Idiocracy was a movie with a genius premise. There’s a reason the net worth gap in the world is getting bigger and bigger, and it’s not because things arent fair. As for the comic hobby... what I collect is awesome and what everyone else collects is crap. I’ll pay stupid money for something I really want, and have no problem selling a book to some other fool for enough to pay off my own stupid purchase 😁 fwiw shrewbeer has two of those sets; sold off one.
