Oh, ok. Here I've always heard them called "lawn jockeys", and while they can be of any ethnicity, they usually werent. I thought maybe the house you spoke of had a collection of Monkey statues or something similar. I remember as a kid the fancy ones would light up so you could see where the pathway to the door started.

there are monkey statues as well, and the jockeys are painted Al Jolsten style. Not sure if it's supposed to be a 'joke' or something.Penny pees on the lawn.

Unbelievably, Walmart is selling plastic "zombie" lawn jockeys for $13.95 + freight. No other regular retailer is selling this stuff that I could see online.

Also, yes, they are known as "lawn jockeys" around here, at least that's all I have ever heard them called. Funny thing is, they are almost all the blackface-type. And I live in the South. I am surprised and also not surprised.

You should see my background on my gmail screen. It's like paisley & an octopus had a baby while on acid. I love it. Wait, it's on my comp somewhere... ...yep, found it!

When we finally settled and build our house I'm going to have all sorts of junk mail my lawn. Maybe change it around for the seasons
