A reference to California's Governor Moonbeam. He didn't pay attention to weather in the 70's.  My Mum used to listen to Linda Ronstadt all the time. It drove me to heavy metal! |

Metal is cool  Remember when it wasn't cool to like metal? And then it started to become cool with commercialized Metallica and those damn awful Nu-Metal bands. That's when some of those already into metal started saying they didn't like it anymore because it was becoming trendy. Some went completely hardcore and claimed to have been there from the start. Some went to dance music because they wanted to date a girl who didn't have blue hair. And some stayed true but not many. Linda Ronstadt is to blame for all of that. The next time someone asks why Metallica went commercial, you can tell them it was Ronstadt's fault... |

You guys can drool and fantasize over the growlings of this  ...while this old fogey romanticizes to the rhythms and tones of the beauty of this  I'll take memories of the dulcet tones of the ingenue (Hughes Stadium in May of '76 - Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles and Jimmy Buffet concert)  over a sweaty Sausage Fest, any day (July 24 Woodstock '99 - East stage for Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine and Metallica),   Then again, I never cared for gladiator movies.  |

One day back around 82 or 83, my dad comes home with an 8 track player that someone at work gave to him, along with a bunch of tapes. Choice stuff like like Helen Reddy, Abba, Kenny Rogers, and others. I still have nightmares. No wonder I buried myself in Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Rush, Triumph, Rainbow, Dio, and various classic rock. |

While I agree that Linda Ronstadt was nicer to look at than your average rock band. (Heart excepted), I still can't stomach the music. And the less said about Jimmy Buffet the better  I do like The Eagles though. |
