Let's keep the shoutbox (cuz it can be fun at times), but eliminate guest participation. This will solve the abuse problems. I've said this before, but it's weird how the comic book crowd is so odd and doesn't play well with others. Vendettas and other acts of stupidity are common. In other hobby forums, the shoutbox is a major communication tool between noobs who are checking out the forum and forum regulars who are answering questions. It's literally never abused by anyone. The shoutbox is currently in a single location on the navigation bar. I can set it back to being on every page, but most people like the way it is now better because it's less intrusive and busy. We can vote on it if you like, it doesn't matter to me. its bizarre how comic forums draw the most vicious grudge bearing abusive people-you dont see anything like that on other forums including gun forums. |

And what's even weirder is that for many of them, their entire sense of identity is wrapped up in their online persona and what people think of them. They'll spend thousands of man-hours polishing that persona and building that reputation only to destroy it all in some ridiculous flame war because some guy called them a poopie-head back in '86. |

Are you able to see Shouts after they disappear from public view? Meaning is there any record of them? You can report shouts through any post. Just explain what you're doing. The mods can see the last hundred or so shouts. I forget the exact number, but it's a lot. You can always take a screen shot while reporting it too. |

If you create a thread and it's moved to the "Controversial Topics" board, don't worry about it. You haven't been moderated, it's just moderation conducting forum maintenance and moving threads around.
