Hi guys! Long time no talk to. The last time I was logged in here was Dec 3, 2022 at 7:46pm. I've been extremely busy with other projects and the time just got away from me. Although I get regular updates from the Moderation Team, it's not the same as being here. It sounds like a lot has happened since I was here last. I have to admit (and this is the purpose of this thread), I would probably be here more often if there were more discussions about comic books, and...based on discussions I've had...a lot of other people feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great when people passionately post about politics and things, but if it's at the expense of the purpose of this forum (to discuss comic books and the hobby), then something needs to change. The data shows that comic book post traffic suffers greatly when other non-comic book areas become the main focus (Politics, religion, the CGC forum, etc.) To get an idea of this effect, take a look at the money in each member's account...each dollar represents one post in the comic book board over the last 15 months. See what I mean? Except for a select few people, most boardies never post or venture into the comic book side of this forum. Anyway, that's the issue at hand. Right now, this forum isn't functioning as a place to discuss comic books, and that needs to change. Let's discuss how to fix this problem. To me, the most obvious solution is to move anything political, religious, or having to do with the CGC forum to a new forum, and keep this forum strictly for comics. What do you think?

The problem is there are not enough members to have a lot of comic book discussion. The main draw here is that things can be discussed here that are not allowed on the other comic forums. its sort of a boutique site-where comic collectors can come and talk about politics and other things.

Yeah, I agree. But, unfortunately, comic book discussions will never be given a chance to grow with the forum's current architecture.

By the way...I'm not trying to change anyone's preferences. If you love discussing politics, go for it. If you aren't interested in discussing comic books, I totally get it. But the purpose of The Comic Book Forum is...yes...you guessed it...comic books. And therein lies the problem. I need to make sure this forum stays true to it's original focus.

I was thinking about this this morning. Another option might be to do what a lot of other comic book forums do and move the material to an area that isn't visible unless you are logged in.

That is best. Extend to the shout box also, or eliminate that den of evil completely.

Thanks for the input. Let's discuss the future of the Shoutbox after we figure out what to do with the other stuff.

So now you'd like the half dozen regular posters to discuss comics now?
