CBCS is determined to let their moderation make fools of them. Have these people just completely lost their damn minds...? And if you read this, shame on you, "joeypost", for your childish behavior. You're a grown ass man, and you behave like a 12 year old. Shame on you. HOLEE ! It's a legit question, and the most NATURAL and pretty much ONLY question to be asked after the Warning post. It's the first thing I immediately thought before reading your reply. You were baited, dude. But what a stupid ploy. If Darthlego asked the same question, he'd still be there. Count on it. This is exactly what the fuckers wanted.

The greater comic collecting society is completely decentralized and pays no attention to them whatsoever. The only thing that EVER comes up is sometimes people will talk about the 'assholes' over on the CGC board. No one...and I mean this literally...no one even knows CBCS HAS a forum...nor cares. I mean, it's right up there with the nonexistent PGX forum. If you want to discuss how to submit a book and how much it costs, then those are the places to do it. But serious discussions about comic collecting occur elsewhere.

Heh. I posted an "innocent" question and got a 7-day vacation from a place I don't go to anyway. I asked Jesse directly "Can we get the CBCS definitions of the words 'civil' and 'respectful'?" Worth it.

What a Jesse is. Dice, what is wrong with you? Why do you allow this to happen? I'm ashamed of Dice, and I told him so to his virtual face. He plays fast and loose on the CGC board for a decade, but give him some authority, and it's "shut up and post how I tell you?"

Heh. I posted an "innocent" question and got a 7-day vacation from a place I don't go to anyway. I asked Jesse directly "Can we get the CBCS definitions of the words 'civil' and 'respectful'?" Worth it. Here's the message I sent Dice: How long are you going to tolerate the unprofessionalism of your moderation team, Steve...? How long...? Suspending people for posting the following (had to reconstruct it from memory, as it was deleted): To which I received this message, along with a 7 day suspension: That, and an unrelated post was also deleted. This is "disrespectful"? No, this is criticism, legitimate criticism, and your breathtakingly unprofessional moderation team used it as justification to issue yet another "suspension." You don't need me to be telling you this. You know this is getting out of hand. And yet...here we are. To which he replied: "I told Jesse to unlock the thread and what to type that announcement when he unlocked it. I also told the moderators if they were called out by anyone, to give out week long strikes. The line was drawn and you chose to challenge it. Not the best choice this time given the instructions they had from me. I usually keep my hands out of the board moderation. I don't have time to deal with it. When I do, it's more no-nonsense. Sorry about the strike. They were just doing what they were told." To which I replied: "That's total bull , Steve, and you know it. I didn't "call out" anyone about anything. Read what I wrote. All I did was say "there may be a discrepancy about what is, and what is not, considered respectful"...which is perfectly true, obviously. So, saying "there are differences of opinion about what is respectful" is now "disrespectful", and "calling out"? Bull . And you know it. The line was drawn, and I didn't come within 1,000 yards of it. And for someone to "cross the line", they first must be aware that such a line exists in the first place. You're better than this. Your COMPANY is better than this. You are allowing your message board to become a tool for the ignorant and the easily offended. They and your moderators are making CBCS look like amateur hour. It is BAD OPTICS, Steve, and you're allowing it. I WANT you to succeed. The industry NEEDS you to succeed. I BELIEVE in what you are doing. But you will NOT succeed if you allow your moderators and your boards to be overrun by the oversensitive, ignorant, and petty. You would do well to start taking this far more seriously than you are." So. There we have it.

This is the nonsensical comment from Dice that really riles me up: The line was drawn and you chose to challenge it. Not the best choice this time given the instructions they had from me. And that line was...be respectful. So, noting that "be respectful" could be open to interpretation is now "disrespectful"? Idiotic, irrational nonsense. That line was "be respectful." I didn't come within 1,000 yards of that line. The line was NOT "don't question this proclamation"...because that would have been too blatantly ludicrous. Yet, that was what they meant. These are the actions of tinpot dictators in third world nations. Shameful.

I'm just bustin' yur balls because you guys seem to get all tangled up in the axles of these commercial forums. They exist to sell their products, not to promote any sort of serious discussions about the hobby. What they allow on their websites will always reflect that. The question then becomes one of use. I mean, why go there if you know from the outset that they will never allow any sort of criticism or analysis that could lead to a decrease in their profitability? Couple that with the fact that the forum regulars will consist of nothing more than cheerleaders and those who have financial interests...and the prospects a real discussion becomes rather bleak. I'm not trying to tell you what to do, I'm just positing my opinion that you will never change the way they operate - it's a waste of time. And yes, it's your time to waste if you like that sort of thing. Where? It's really amazing, but there has been an explosion of comic book forums over the last couple of years. They come in all different specializations and sizes. Some are so large they boggle the mind...others are tiny. I belong to at least 40-50 right now, and will probably add more. Most exist on the social media platforms.

By being evasive on their definition of 'respectful' (we're all aware by now it's their definition, not the definition), they're free to go after anyone for anything. Will they be consistent? , why bother? If anyone brings it up, suspend them.

Can you imagine Jessie0's reaction to your post? He must have been tittering with excitement. It's moved beyond aggressive moderation to total lunacy. "Be respectful." "Yes, but that means different things to different people. How is anyone really supposed to know what you mean?" "Questioning us is disrespectful, 1 week ban!!" Kevin...in his WILDEST dreams...wouldn't DARE behave like this. It's irrational, idiotic madness. And Dice's response: "the line was drawn and you crossed it"...by pointing out that what is, and is not, respectful is up to interpretation...is only the icing on the lunatic cake. It's shameful and embarrassing. It's NOT how you run a company. CBCS had BETTER get its act together, or they are going to drive themselves right out of business.

These guys want to keep business internalized. Fact is, I take a friend to a con, or offer advice on books to buy, I tell them to stay away from CBCS.
When it comes to business, opinions matter. Better wise up to it because this is one of those businesses where word of mouth can lead to financial suicide. Bad enough new collectors already see grading companies as a joke... nails are being pounded in coffins everywhere
