I actually think having his signature on the book actually cheapens the book. To ruin the cover of a $60K book with an $100 autograph. No thanks.

I have two Stan sig series, but both are at least a decade old now,one was a gift. People getting it done now should just leave the man alone. If folks didn't pay, maybe he wouldn't be put so hard to work. There are plenty of his sigs out there. I have one raw sig, from the seventies I was told by the OO and it's small,in ballpoint pen, just under the tree on TOS #15.It's my fave, even though the OO clipped a bloody panel from one of the stories.😶

Looking at some of these books, what impact does bad signature placement have on some of these books compared to one that either has a good signature or is unsigned? I imagine a person in the market for a 6.0 AF#15 probably won't be interested in that copy with the signature across Spidey's face unless there is a reduction in price when there are other copies that either have better placement or are unblemished. If I had $60K to spend on a book, I sure as hell would not want one with signature across the front of Spidey's face. I think in time,or likely already, older, clearer sigs will bring a premium. With all this stuff going on lately,I felt some guilt and had to dig mine up to see the dates signed.2004 and 2007.I don't think he was even charging then was he?

I'd prefer to have any book with no signature. I have very few signed books where I don't already have an unsigned copy in the best grade I could find.

I agree with this. I don't find the sharpie autographs aren't very appealing. The older ball point pen autograph on the first page is

Either Stan really hates the guy and wanted to obliterate his sig, or he really loves the guy and wanted their sigs merged. I would be pissed, and I don't even give a rats ass about my copy (past it's value).

It's the jackass's fault for having Stan sign that book to begin with. Why the would you want Stan to sign a 90's book? He shouldn't sign anything past 70's IMO

Stan Lee has been a figurehead at Marvel for decades but why would anyone want his signature on a comic that he had nothing to do with?

He shouldn't sign anything past 70's IMO For the most part I agree, but obviously anything he may have wrote later in his career is fair game. Thor #385 is a favorite; it's a fun stand-alone Hulk vs Thor story he wrote, and if I'm not mistaken, was Eric Larsen's first Marvel work. I'd be happy with his sig on it, and the white cover seems perfect for it. As long as the sig is IN the white, rather than ON the art.

I honestly wasn't aware he still wrote that late Classic Stan writing style. "Never before have mortal eyes such battle beheld!" I use his voice whenever I read that

I love rewatching the old spider man cartoon for that very reason

Not sure if this technically fits this thread because the sig was fine before the put it in a bag before it was dry. This was an item sold through Previews.
