JK and John Byrne - two artists who should never ink their own pencils.

I like Kirby's inks on his own pencils. I feel like it gives him a chance to show the readers what he really wants them to see.

JK and John Byrne - two artists who should never ink their own pencils. I completely disagree about Byrne. I LOVED his work when he inked himself on FF in the early/mid 80s. Later in that run, when Ordway starting inking Byrne's pencils, it definitely lost something. Not that it was bad though. I just prefer Byrne inking himself. Byrne/Ordway was an interesting penciller/inker choice. Terry Austin was also a great inker choice for Byrne, as was Bob Layton.

Bob Wiacek inked Byrne's pencils in She-Hulk and Alpha Flight and I particularly liked the She-Hulk stuff. When Byrne started his second stint on FF (#232) apparently Terry Austin wasn't available to ink the interiors and JB didn't like the other inkers available at the time, so he inked his own pencils. I don't know that he did this previously at Marvel or Charlton, but I though the results were good. A bit off topic, but all but one page of Cap #255 was shot from JB's pencils alone, and I liked how that turned out.

Very clean artwork. I loved his work on FF but, as Sigs mentioned, the artwork wasn't as good once Ordway took over.

I would never have known that was by Kirby. Very cool. Really? Looks pretty much like definitive Kirby (pre-70s) to me.
