Was there a cover where someone drew something that was NSFW with Stan's autograph on it? I vaguely remember something, but don't recall any other details other than it was with Zatanna. There’s this Walking Dead #109 with Scott Blair sketch(signed by Stan on back) that was roundly found distasteful. As for the Zatanna cover, I might be remembering the same thing as you. There was a sketch cover that contained violent/sexual imagery signed by Stan. The art was wraparound, apparently Stan didn’t know what the finished art would look like, and happily signed. I was thinking it was another WD, but it could have been Zatanna. I thought it was something that was distasteful but for some reason I thought it was a Zatanna sketch...or maybe it was Cherry. Dang, now I'm confused.

That's a tough one to grade. The rest of the cover looks pretty good. I would have thought it would have been graded Fair/Good with that huge defect, but if that book came back a 1.8-2.0 then I think I would have thought it was under-graded.

I wasn't entirely sure how to grade that, but was leaning towards a 1.0. I wasn't comfortable dinging the book further because most of the cover is there, and in decent condition at that. I'm sure I've seen SA remaindered books graded by CGC, but can’t recall if they received .5 or just what.
I was wondering why the cover was cut in a slight "crescent" shape and how exactly it came to be. Is there a coupon or game on the inside cover?

Giant Size X-Men #1 page 30 in the MCS auction ending 8/24/20 sold for $45. I believe this is the first encapsulated single page I’ve seen in the marketplace for anything other than early Golden Age. I wonder if the seller is just testing the waters here, and we may see other pages from this book appear in the near future? Could this be a new trend or possibly seen as a way to salvage partially damaged books?

If he really wanted this page I'm sure $45 can buy you a decent copy of X-Men #47. At least then he'd have an original page instead of a reprint from GSX #1

This is a fun video. 15-year-old comic book collector Bill Placzek on "To Tell The Truth" in 1965. We find out that he has a collection of 27,000 comic books worth $40K that includes three copies of Superman #1.

Betty & Veronica #269 cover dated May '78. Can anyone think of an earlier instance of a toilet appearing on a comic book cover?

Can anyone think of an earlier instance of a toilet appearing on a comic book cover? That would make a good thread, "Toilets in Comic Books."

Can anyone think of an earlier instance of a toilet appearing on a comic book cover? That would make a good thread, "Toilets in Comic Books." On the old Archie boards we had a thread with images of the characters in the shower, bathtub, or washing their hair. Surprising how often those scenes would appear.
