I like being Fine. I'll like being Very Fine even more. I'll stop posting at 7999...I I'm a bottom feeder, I'm already out of my comfort zone.

What's the oldest/highest 9.9-10.0 anyone has owned. Or if not owned, seen? Seen in person or on the web?

What's the oldest/highest 9.9-10.0 anyone has owned. Or if not owned, seen? The oldest 9.9 I own is this one: The oldest 10 I own is this one: Both subbed by me. The DHP was the first 10 I got, on my first ever 9.8 pre-screen lot. Silly me, thinking I'd get a a lot more! CGC is INCREDIBLY stingy with the 9.9 and 10 grades, on purpose, to protect "market perception." They just won't give them out, because they believe if they do, it will erode consumer confidence. Think about it: there are over a million 9.8s on the census. Statistically, just given the distribution of the other grades, you'd think maybe 5%-10% of that number would be 9.9s, right? Nope. There are only 10,000 or so 9.9s. And only 2,500 or so 10s. The numbers are highly skewed. Add to that that human factor, that just the SLIGHTEST mishandling can turn a 9.9 or 10 into a 9.8, and you have a lot of REALLLLY nice 9.8s out there, and those of us...like me...who spent years and years worth of time sorting through brand new books aren't rewarded for that effort. It's one of the reasons I have ZERO problem with pressing. I didn't get the reward for the work I put in. Why not get the reward for fixing them, then? (Not that I'm, y'know, bitter about it. )

Here's an interesting 10.0. linkThat's both an interesting 10 and an interesting #12! I believe something went wrong with printing process and it took 23 years to reprint... And nice ring!

Seen in person or on the web? Either. I guess I'd rank my curiosity as owned, seen in person, then just plain seen. Basically "looking" for the oldest pre-CGC 9.9-10.0's. Considering OS's posts, I'd re-rank my curiosity as subbed, owned, personally seen, then seen.

Dont own any slabs, don't look at them at shows, but I followed the Mile High auction of Thor #156 years ago and I've seen pictures of that stupid dentist book with no cover, that's about it.
