Some protester here in LA just said that the election results were "unconstitutional." There aren't enough facepalms. You think that's bad, I was listening to KGO on the AM radio earlier and they were taking callers. im sure if hillary won, there would be the same response from the other side. no side is without fault in my opinion

You think that's bad, I was listening to KGO on the AM radio earlier and they were taking callers. im sure if hillary won, there would be the same response from the other side. no side is without fault in my opinion The response wouldn't have been the same. There's a distinct difference. Were there riots and protests in the streets when Obama won twice...? No. Yes, people would have been upset, but there's a substantive difference between being upset and shutting down the roads with protests. I can read between the lines, here, and you're a Clinton supporter...so I understand your position about this. But when Obama was elected, do you think there were people who posted " you " on the CGC board in bitter anger and outrage? There wasn't. When Obama was re-elected in 2012, I quit taking part. There wasn't any point, because my vote doesn't count. What will be will be. I knew the country was making a terrible mistake, and we're seeing the results of that mistake all around us. Big gov't isn't the answer, and never will be. It cannot be, whether it's the big gov't of Obama, or both Bushes, or Clinton, or McConnell, or whomever. But I didn't go riot, I didn't go burn things down, I didn't protest in the streets. True, no side is without fault. Absolutely right. But when you weigh things in the balance, the scales tip clearly on the side of "the left" in terms of disturbance and violence.

That crying about the election being unconstitutional seems to be missing the fact that their actions are severely impeding the rights of all these people, many of whom I'm sure voted for Clinton, from simply trying to get from point A to point B. Was it imperative that anyone stuck in traffic be somewhere important by a certain time? They don't know, and I doubt they care. They're sad and dammit, they're gonna try to get on tv. Jeez, there must have been a record number of selfies flooding Facebook.

As far as protests go, and I don't want to diminish the intentions of some teenagers, but they seem almost like Flash Mobs and are just an excuse to miss school.

But when you weigh things in the balance, the scales tip clearly on the side of "the left" in terms of disturbance and violence. i think we are discussing two different things. The response to an Obama win vs HRC win would have been different. HRC had a lot of people who disliked, some people wanted her dead (see Trump rally) or jailed (see Trump rally, Trump debate). Much of Trumps stump speech and his surrogates were based on the belied that she was "crooked" not to mention that Trump himself mentioned that he thought the election might be rigged. The big difference between those two groups of voters (HRC vs DT) is that HRC voters are mainly in big metropolitan areas where the DT supporters are found throughout the country and rural America. It's a little hard to stop traffic when you are the minority population. Also this point is hard for me to argue because it's based on my belief with no real concrete way of ever getting proof that it would happen (which I guess is why you bring up the Obama win). As for my HRC support, yes I preferred her over DT and I can see why many would not and would prefer him. Much like I have a vested interest in her policies, I'm sure the same can be said of DT supporters. I also agree that not all DT supporters are racists. I also agree that the comments in the CG thread were uncalled for etc. However I can understand that some individuals may have some fear with a DT presidency, he's made a lot of statements that cause concern. Again I think much of this is talk and to implement many of these "ideas" would be too big and too difficult, and more importantly "too costly" both figuratively and literally. My final thought is that with the BO presidency while I understood why many did not agree with some of his policies I felt that overall it was a push toward a more progressive, modern, global view of the world and our role in it. It's evident based on the results that many people aren't ready for that type of America and they ultimately rejected it. That's why my comment about Blue vs Red. I think one group wants some of the things that the other will never want. I know you are a big believer in discussion, compromise etc but I think the more one group pushes the other bears down further. There is a great divide on some social changes taking place in this world. some refuse to accept it and that's certainly their right. I just don't think we (not you or I) can ever get to an agreement. In that I've lost some hope.

also some of the racism being said at some high schools (white power chants, build the wall chants) is part of that fear. some will interpret this win as a opening to be ignorant when the win was more about HRC being a bad establishment candidate and voters wanting a different take on america.
again those acting that way are a small minority.

a world more tolerant of people differences (religion, ethnicity, sexual preference) better equality for women, more tolerant of other countries, bigger push for democracy across the world.
theres a chance much of this will stay on course. i thought the last 8 years we moved into a more accepting place of same sex marriages, healthcare for everyone type of world. however some of those policies are flawed I'll admit and while local government has been ahead of the curve on marijuana while the federal government and the war on drugs has stayed back in the 80s. I would like to see the federal side move more towards what states have been doing.
I know roe vs wade gets brought up from time to time, I doubt that it ever get reversed but that is on the back of my mind with a republican controlled government. I'm sure some version of the healthcare act will get repealed which isn't good in my current work industry.
Again I'm going to wait and see. Trump is smarter than he sounds. No way you get this far without have a good head on.

I'm very curious to see if Trump the presidential hopeful matches Trump the president-elect. It's stunning to me that he could say the things he said and still win. I am absolutely shocked. Candidates in the past have been brought low by far less than that. We are in very interesting political times right now.
