Another conservative stance which perplexes Zod. www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/wisconsin-republicans-block-ban-on-conversion-therapyAs with free speech and equal rights, conservatives appear to be at odds with their own values yet again. Either that, or everything they stand for is a lie; Zod cannot be certain. On the one hand, they do NOT want strangers to change their outward appearance because this is somehow offensive to delicate conservative sensibilities. But on the other, they DO want strangers to change their inner preferences when these preferences offend delicate conservative sensibilities. Thus conservatives oppose gender confirmation, and support gay conversion. It seems to Zod that conservatives simply want to control every detail about others, from their minds and hearts to their bodies. Even Zod was never this power mad. Do conservatives possess the courage and integrity to address this seeming clash of professed values? NO COVID DISCUSSION PLEASE.

Is it the conservative position that it's acceptable to damage the minds of LGBTQ+ youth and drive them to suicide... But NOT acceptable for these same young people to make their own personal choices regarding their bodies and lifestyles? Alcorn, who identified as transgender, had posted a suicide note on her Tumblr in which she described her isolation, desperation, and depression—feelings she blamed, in part, on the “conversion therapy” her conservative Christian parents forced her to undergo. Alcorn’s parents believed their “sick” child could be forcibly turned back into a boy and “cured” of her attraction to males. |

OK, I'm just assuming Zod's meaning, but I believe he's saying that on the one hand the right states they're party of personal freedom and it appears they're contradicting themselves by their stances on topics like abortion, gay marriage, trans people. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that. |

Sorry to break it to you, but everything you dislike isn't "conservative". Nothing you said makes any sense. Zod is unclear about what you're responding to. But in the event it may be comments made by Zod... Zod has many conservative (and liberal) friends, and agrees with many (sane/reasonable) conservatives on many issues. And almost everything Zod says makes sense. To the sensible.  |
