I appreciate your sharing this, especially as you're sincerely presenting it as sensible refutation of my points. Unfortunately, it is not. My rape and Holocaust analogies ARE, however, excellent examples of known areas of sensitivity to large groups of people, as are depictions of the Prophet of Islam. Women, Jews and Muslims (and various combinations thereof) are known to have a profoundly negative reaction to insensitivity in these areas. Analogies pertaining to marshmallows, veterinary medicine and so forth are ridiculous. If one has a trigger which is uncommon (many people actually do), one must make their own best decisions about how to navigate various situations. In the instance of trolling Professor Prater, as with situations involving rape and the Holocaust, far larger numbers are likely to be affected, and these sensitivities are well-known. Zod prefers thoughtful individuals to arsonists and trolls. Thank you for your mindful contribution, Vin. So you're saying majority rules on what is allowable as opposed to sticking to well established principles to determine what is allowed? That sounds exactly like Liberal / leftist ideology and is illogical. In fact, it's something CGC Mike would have said about how the CGC boards are moderated. NO group should be able to impose their triggers on a country where freedom of speech and freedom of expression is the #1 priority above all else. Why is it a priority? Because without these freedoms society immediately starts necessarily leaning towards tyranny. Immediately. You are either fighting to keep your ever diminishing freedoms or you are losing them. Whether they are images of the holocaust, of rape or any other "offensive" images, they can't be censored under Western concepts of freedom of speech. The academic classroom is no exception. Any compromise on this freedom will by extension compromise freedom in general. And anyone who DOESN'T want to see such images is free to leave, using that same freedom.
Compromising the freedom to express will necessarily, eventually compromise the freedom to leave. That's how the logic works. Your logic conflicts itself at every turn when you work it through to it's logical conclusion. And if you compromise academic freedom you compromise progress of ideas. Anything else is just a compromise of the freedoms we've fought for in Western civilization. That's really the end of the conversation. Prater was free to troll in a non-academic context. She chose to set this little college on fire instead. Zod finds it interesting that the school hasn't talked about negative incidents involving Prater prior to this one, but perhaps they're not interested in adding fuel to the fires she set. If Prater sues, her more extensive resume of misconduct will no doubt come to light.

Trolling teacher sets university ablaze, conservatives rejoice because Muslim/Woke-hate. Zod despises those who commit arson, whether on the right or left, and whatever their alleged cause. Zod, Zod, Zod... {smh} For well over 500 years images of Muhammad have been depicted throughout Persian and Turkish (Ottoman empire) art composed BY Muslim scholars, historians and artists of both Sunni and Shia sects. This is part of the "global history of Art", especially within the Islamic world. Not all Muslims forbid images of Muhammad, and so just because some (not even most) Muslims don't want to see Muhammad depicted in art does not mean that such depictions of centuries-old Islamic art BY Islamic artists within the context of a college class on art or within the context of a museum display are "trolling" or akin to arson. Seriously, since the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as part of Islamic historical art, also depicts paintings of Muhammad such as this one (" The Night Flight Of Muhammad") as well as others, should the Museum Director of The Met also be fired for being an "arsonist" like you think this Art professor is? SMH indeed. And more bad analogies. Prater knew what she was doing, and we may well learn more about her history at the college as time goes on.

Alas; the Yellow Sun affects the vision of so many here...

This is getting tedious.

So far it's just a "conspiracy theory" and a slandering of someone's good name. Sometimes fires need to be lit to fight for freedom.

Why wait to learn any more - why not just ask you? since you seem to know her intentions, her motivations, her history, her mind and her heart pretty well? Okay, enough tit-for-tat. This is getting tedious. Zod believes you mistake your tatters for raiment to which they cannot hope to aspire. But there are differences between the cat that knocks over chess pieces before walking away, and yourself. The primary difference being that the cat does not believe it has done well in this action, but is simply called away by more urgent cat business. The second difference Zod observes is that the cat could no doubt learn the game, though the effort expended would be great. The effort required to point out the absurdity and irrelevance of your bad arguments is simply not worth the return, which would, at best, make you a better deceiver of yourself and like-minded others rather than more wise or logical. Incredibly, a poster on this very forum made these comments: Because Christianity is true and Islam is false.
Satan hates the truth (damn there's that word again!) and is working in vain at all angles through all vehicles by any and all human and spiritual means at his disposal to bring Christianity, more specifically Catholicism, down.
But I know how this story ends.So why wait to learn any more? Why not just ask this poster how this story ends? Since they seem to know not only the intentions, but the very nature of 2 BILLION of their fellow human beings? They also know what Satan hates! Let us ask this poster about the motivations of Muslims, their history, their minds, and their hearts. All 2 billion. This poster knows so very much after all. And is clearly so very rational. What say JCJ? This professor will not be rehired by Hamline, and the reasons include her history prior to this incident. But why SMT? (So Much Triggered) Zod thought that conservatives believed businesses were free to hire and fire at will, or in this case, simply not renew the contract of an academic arsonist. If a business chooses not to bake a cake, it is the right of that business, correct? What about the freedom of the university to bake the academic cake of its choice? Why the outrage over this business's decision? And for that matter, why the outrage in general, and over so much? The liberals have their safe spaces, do conservatives need the same? It would seem so.

If Prater is so foolish as to pursue legal action, Hamline will no doubt be revealed as the Depp of this story, but in the proper time and place. But as Zod observes above, why do conservatives hate the rights of businesses to do as they choose? Should the Batman Bakery be forced to create a man cake? When did conservatives become the arch enemies of freedom? Zod feared this might occur if humans continued to worship man - has it come to pass?

The women was fired for doing her job because a student complained. The rules were then retroactively changed and the teacher was called an Islamophobe. Which freedom was breached first? The school has already apologized for calling the teacher and Islamophobe. It's just a matter of time before they admit they were wrong altogether. Still waiting on all this damning evidence you have on Prater to prove she's a horrible person.

Still waiting on all this damning evidence you have on Prater to prove she's a horrible person. Good for the school if it misspoke and apologized for this. They certainly made plenty of mistakes, including hiring Prater in the first place. But you have no answer as to why so many conservatives oppose freedom? Some freedoms are more equal than others perhaps? Arsonists should be free to destroy targets when conservatives agree the targets are deserving - is that it? But Arsonist Prater will not be rehired by Hamline, and woe unto any college which does procure her services. As to your pursuit of damning evidence, ask the poster who claims to know what Satan hates, and "how this story ends." Zod is great, but he does not claim to possess omniscience. Good luck in untangling your web, Vin.

You're trying to tangle two things that aren't actually tangled. The freedom to teach about Islamic art supersedes the student's "freedom" to not see it. The student has the freedom to not see it. The student's freedom to not see it does not supersede the teacher's freedom to share it. Your logic tree is broken. Just like, methinks it was when you were another boardie.

Methinks the broken competence and deformed moral clarity of many is on display. This includes the need to assign prior identities to new posters who inevitably bring attention to these glaring shortcomings. While most of the participants in this conversation appear to have and run, I'm happy to offer an opportunity to help St. Jude Children's Hospital (by direct contribution to them) to any who'd like to put their money where their mouth is. Ask Zod for details.

Until you PROVE that Prater has a history of malfeasance it's just an empty accusation.

Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons, and proceeded to the checkout counter. The pharmacist at the counter asked the older boy, 'Son, how old are you?' 'Eight', the boy replied. The man continued, 'Do you know what these are used for?' The boy replied, 'Not exactly, but they aren't for me. They're for him. He's my brother. He's four." "Oh, really?" the pharmacist replied with a grin. "Yes." the boy said. "We saw on TV that if you use these, you would be able to swim, play tennis and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do none of those."

Until you PROVE that Prater has a history of malfeasance it's just an empty accusation. That's your own wheels spinning on the slick surface of your surreal incompetence, Vin. But good to hear you're ready to help the kids of St. Jude! Due to her history of trolling/academic arson, Prater won't be rehired by Hamline, nor will she prevail in any legal case she might bring against them for her non-renewed contract. How certain is Zod of this? In addition to my regular giving to them, I'm prepared to donate up to $500.00 to St Jude if I'm wrong. Are ANY others here willing to do the same? Anyone who wishes to do so can promise to donate anywhere from $50 apiece up to the full $500 if Zod is correct. (That means up to 10 people can participate at the $50 level.) And to make it ridiculously fair/easy, while I won't ask for proof of donation from any of you when I'm proven right, in the incredibly unlikely event that Zod is wrong, I'll submit proof of donation to Woogieman - someone we all know, trust and like - and he can announce this on the forum. The time span in which Prater has to act (or Hamline rehire her) runs until the end of 2023, but Zod's offer will be open for one week from today - until 8pm EST January 30, 2023. How many of you will put your money on the line to help sick children? Please note that it's most likely Prater will slink away into anonymity, and won't bring any legal action against Hamline for her contract non-renewal, and if this turns out to be the case (and assuming Hamline doesn't rehire her), no action will be required on anyone's part. I'll now await the avalanche of replies from those eager to do the right thing while backing up their assertions...
