I'd say Apple is well within its rights to kick Twitter off the App Store if Twitter no longer complies with its rules for moderation. It's got nothing to do with Musk, per se, but the way he's chosen to run the company, and that is with a vastly decreased emphasis on moderation, which is well known to be a no-no for Apple. He has the right to do that, and Apple has the right to act as they see fit to 'protect' its userbase and more importantly, its image.
I see nothing wrong here.

"Compliance" is totally a subjective interpretation. Remember CGC's chat forum and our agreed upon discussion about how the CGC forums are being subjectively moderated as a perfect example that you had personal exception with. And it has everything to do with Musk. It's a war of ideology and politics being waged by the Liberals, the same group of people/companies who forcefully censored the discussion on vaccine injuries and the lab leak theory when they never should have. If someone was injured by a vaccine they weren't allowed to talk about it. If you were a scientist and wanted to discuss the potential leak of the virus from a lab, you weren't allowed to talk about it. The discussion was brutally censored and people were kicked off of social media and demonetized if they did talk about it. It was literally the Dark Ages. That censorship even extended onto the CGC forums where idjits like namisgr pushed the mainstream narrative and CGC admins butchered moderation along the mainstream narrative. And guess what? They were ALL WRONG, which is why Social Media stopped censoring those topics once it became apparent that they were wrong for doing it. And while you say Musk has "decreased emphasis on moderation" making it sound like he wants a free-for-all, do you really believe he's done this? What's he's done and what his goal has been, is to put an emphasis on making moderation MORE FAIR so that we don't experience the censorship we just experienced in 2020 / 2021. He want's to prevent the Dark Ages from happening again. I don't see the problem with his motivation. Do you?

Twitter is part of what some call the New Public (or Town) Square, and Apple is a monopoly acting on behalf of the narrow interests of incredibly unsavory and dangerous people, and against speech. Moderation is the pathetically transparent excuse Apple will use to do the wrong thing, but no one who's really paying attention buys into that at all - this would be another attack on speech by a vicious and powerful corporation, and that anyone would defend it, or attack Musk, is very disappointing. So I see a LOT wrong here. Luckily, Musk has the resources to take Apple on if they continue to act against speech and the right of people thereto. I'd love to see this go to the Supreme Court (already considering other free speech matters pertaining to the internet) if Apple does the wrong thing yet again. I hope we can be spared the "it's their company, they can do what they want" argument, as it's not relevant here.

He's fired up to 80% of the Moderation staff (estimates vary, but 50-75% seem reasonable as a starting point), and there's a lot of stuff getting through now that wouldn't have previously been allowed (and I mean straight out threats of violence and the like) so yeah, I'd say moderation has absolutely decreased under the new regime. It would be more fair if he allowed a more balanced viewpoint (I'll admit, that wasn't the case to some extent previously, I can think of an example straight away which I had a problem with), but by allowing outright threats and harassment, I'd say that crosses a line and showes a simple marked line of less moderation on the service. So no, I don't have a problem with Apple's stance on this. YMMV.

So no, I don't have a problem with Apple's stance on this. YMMV. How much time do you actually spend on Twitter? I don't do social media (I have accounts of course...FB for Marketplace, IG I have and go on maybe once a week)...and I don't consider Twitter social media actually. I'm on every day and where I choose to spend my time online. It truly is the way to spread news, and get viewpoints that you'd never get otherwise. The trick is to curate your feed VERY carefully and choose wisely who you actually follow...and that means following people who would oppose your points of view. That doesn't mean your mind will be changed, it just gioves you a barometer of what's going on and will show the truth or hypocracy in whatever is going on. It lets you make your own decision. As for moderation, it has't changed one bit. There was always violence threatened, and on Trwiier and as long as humans and SM exist, it'll happen. Same as on here, same as CGC boards. Moderation is being decried as being less prevalent on Twitter right now...it's simplly not the case. The ''news'' that it is is simply being fed to people now and it's an interesting talking point for some now.

If only the issue was a matter of time, how simple to solve.

When I mentioned the moderation I did have specific examples in mind of threats made that had been reported and passed through as acceptable that certainly wouldn't have under the old regime. Same as when I said I could think of an example offhand of something that Twitter wasn't treating fairly and was biased about, to the detriment of the more conservative side. I do read both people I agree with and admire, and those I don't, to try and get a rounded view on a subject. I don't really want to exist in an echo chamber, and if my views can't survive being challenged, then they're not really worth holding in the first place, right? Having said that, I have my limits. Thank you for such a respectful response. I appreciate it.

What you have stated is a personal option and preference, and is not supportive of a good or bad business model, at all. It is simply your preference.

I never meant to imply otherwise, and don't see how I have,to any extent greater than any other poster. If you want to simply call me out because my views don't align with yours, I'd hope you were better than that. I'd also hope you could muster a better response than 'baloney'.

You are interpreting the comment as calling you out. No. I am recognizing that you are no different than anyone else, and carry no greater moral judgement ability than anyone else, and when you opine concerning decreased moderation and rights, etc., you are declaring moral judgmental superiority. The same superiority baloney is evident when you use a "..I'd also hope blahblah.." comment to indicate condescension of disagreement. Maybe stop thinking yourself a victim of any media, being somehow forced into a participant mindset of good/bad. So, yes, Baloney.
