While competition is indeed good, I find it hard to believe that many of these companies will ever come close to touching CGC. CBCS at least has the advantage of a known commodity (Borock). What do these other companies have? Can't imagine them ever carving out more than a tiny fraction of the encapsulation market. At least in this country anyway. I see that HALO is in Australia. People there may flock to this company because it's so damn expensive and risky to send comics from Australia to Florida.

I don't disagree. I have too many thoughts on this for one post, but basically in this industry there are HUGE advantages for being first to market, having an enormous market share, and being able to handle volume. This is an almost insurmountable hurdle for most of the competition. Add in the political aspects - it's not just about the product, but WHO you can connect with in this incestuous market (Heritage for example), and it becomes even more difficult.
Some of these companies play to the niche markets (price, proximity, etc.), but there is no growth potential in them.
CBCS is a real competitor with real growth potential if it can achieve/maintain profitability. I think PGX will always be the leader of the 'also ran' group for a lot of reasons, but it IS experiencing some growth right now. I think any real competition beyond CBCS would be a new market entrant, one that doesn't currently exist.

The case doesn't look bad to me at all, though I'm not crazy about the word 'autograph' and wondering how they verify the signature as legitimate? And what do they provide as far as resto check? I'd hope the date of grading is stickered somewhere on the back.
Although I imagine it could take years for a company like this to gain credibility and be recognized by the collecting community at large, it's good to see the product out there and people talking about it.
Also, I think you need to be a member of that particular group for the posted link to work.

I'd like to see a more composite collection of pics of the slab without being bagged or with terrible lighting before making a comment on the product/grading. Do they have a forum?

From the original link, I don't see any forum, but they have changed their photos and info since I last looked. They have a case with an embedded chip that provides graders notes and other info about the book. One new thing is they offer the case in five different translucent colors. I can see collectors wanting to display their books getting a preferred color, but I also think it distracts from the book in other ways.

Totally agree, anything other than translucent is just distracting and quite simply, stupid.
I'd prefer a more attractive label than a gimmick like a chip which has the information. Hell, even a QR code print would be cool instead of a chip.
