Hey Shelley, I bought a ten pack at the last Buffalo Comicon from a local reseller who was set up there. I've only used a couple of them & I was surprised by the thin film that you have to peel off of both sides....they are crystal clear after you remove that film but I'm not sure if I'd use them for a valuable book, so far it's just a couple moderns with wraparound covers. I bought silver size & threw them in a silver size mylar from BCE I think, they aren't the ones that fit half/full backs, they're silver comic bag sized. They're not as nice or sturdy as the single "pane o' glass" backing board I got when I bought an expensive book from Northcoast though.

I was hoping they had a size that I could use to replace the full-back/half-back double combo that I use; and that with two of them together they'd be sturdy enough to protect the book properly. Yeah, I only saw silver & modern sizes.....when you pull back the film it seems like there's some kind of residue that sort of dissipates or evaporates when exposed to the air. The film doesn't come off as cleanly as say a smart phone/ipad screen cover. I'm sure some dork will analyze it for long term impact soon enough.

I await the dork analysis.

Looks like thin acrylic sheets that are used in display boxes but just a little thicker.

I was thinking of doing the same thing.
