I wish I had bought, and kept, more copies of Hulk 181 when I was younger. That book has really sky-rocketed in price. I wonder if the price for book will take a hit if, or when, speculators leave the market. I think the prices being paid would have to correct downward in that case. The prices of some of these more common 70's books sometimes baffles me, but then I realize the trend is to collect keys, not runs, story arcs, or even a particular character. The hobby has certainly changed a lot over the years.

It truly has changed a lot. When I was younger bragging rights usually went to the guy who had entire run of Marvel's Secret Wars. Nowadays, it seems just having issue #8 would give the person bragging rights.

AF15 and Hulk 181 baffle me as well. Owning both, I'm obviously ok with their value jumps, and since they're both 'valued' well above what I paid for each, I'll still be okay if the market corrects itself. I want these comics in my collection (can't have Hulk and Spidey runs without them, right?).
The AF15 is riskier since it practically doubled in value (GPA talk) within a year of my $2400 purchase. That floor can disintegrate just as quickly, if not faster. But even if the value drops to 50% below what I paid, I'd be more or less okay with it, seeing the loss as rental fees for having had years of satisfaction having it in my collection. Sometimes it feels like a burr (in a First World Problems sort of way) not having the big titles like FF & Avengers #1 or TOS #39, or JIM #83- So having this book and it not being the biggest burr would be worth it. knock on wood
I got my FN/VF Hulk in '89 off the wall for $120. MANY years of satisfaction there.

Putting together a full set of Secret Wars was a feat to be praised.

I thought they both came out around the same time. I vaguely remember picking up 141 before 252 but it could have been because 252 was the book to have when it came out.

I think MTU 141 came out the same month as ASM 252, but later in the month. I think I recall Squishy having the dates.

You're probably right about that. I remember picking up MTU141 from the stands and may have had to go to a store for ASM252.
