Quiet desperation, indeed My mom always had a problem with that line when the song was released. She had a tendency to take words literally, which doesn't always work when dealing with lyrics. I told here that if you consider the whole story of 'The Wall' when hearing that line, you can almost see the quotation marks surrounding "education". The kids, in this story, are saying, "If this is your idea of education, we don't need it." That's may take. And I think Rose dies at the end of Titanic. |

And don't get me wrong, it's a great album. But I still chuckle when I hear that line with its double negative... especially when the children join in the chorus. It just sounds like some education is really needed. |
