Is that Contentious Monster wearing swim trunks? I think so. I thought ol' Fin Fang Foom was the only modest monster?

Original cover art for Captain America #101 and the published version with the altered Red Skull. Strange that the head was redrawn since Kirby was the co-creator and first artist to draw the Red Skull. I think so. I thought ol' Fin Fang Foom was the only modest monster? The most recent Fin Fang Foom as he appeared in The Totally Awesome Hulk #3 (drawn by Frank Cho) is covered in scales, but has a clearly defined chest and abdominal muscles. No shorts, just becomes smooth until the underside of his tail appears.

Wow, Romita really took a lot of Kirby out of this.

I love Romita's work but it kinda pisses me off that Marvel would do that. There are other examples of Romita redrawing faces. I don't know if it was his decision or someone above him but it sucks that they did that

This is interesting. I wonder what the story is behind this. This was, of course, an homage to JIM83; but Buscema ended up doing the cover on What If? #10.
