Ok, so you know why they're upset in France right? What does that have to do with socialism? They pay into that their entire working career much like we do with social security...it's not exactly "free stuff".
I imagine if they raise the eligibility here for SS to 70 years old people would be upset. Maybe not rioting upset but they would rightfully be upset.

When a country becomes too socialist, all the systems begin to fail including pension plans. Hope that helps.

Can you give an example of a first world country where this has happened?

Can you give an example of a first world country where this has happened? Sure. From the 1950s to the early 1980s, the Venezuelan economy, which was buoyed by high oil prices, was one of the strongest and most prosperous in South America. Then socialism came along. Now 94.5% of the population is living in poverty based on income, out of which 76.6% lives under extreme poverty, the highest figure ever recorded in the country. Now theyre eatin rats.

Technically Venezuela isn't and wasn't considered a first world country which is why I specifically said "first world" because Venezuela is always the go to for a certain section of people and claiming the US is turning into them.

Then there's greece anothe first world country that flopped. I don't think you can call any country in the EU "socialist"...I guess it depends on what you call socialist. The US has had social safety net programs for years and I wouldn't call us socialist.

Socialism is death. Venezuela was once one of the richest countries in the world per capita I think that qualifies as first world.

Well, you can call it whatever you like, you can call it Mars V2 but that doesn't make it true to the rest of the world. Either way, saying they collapsed because "socialism" is an extreme oversimplification of the issues they have, but it's simplified enough to stir up fear amongst a certain populace.

It's great work you're doing.

Customer in store shoves old lady aside to get in line. Employee calls him a jerk. Customer: "Stop trying to play own the customer!"

If you call out people who have a destructive, hypocritical, and intellectually dishonest ideology, you are not trying to 'own' anything. You are calling out people who have a destructive, hypocritical, and intellectually dishonest ideology. If the lib feels they got 'owned', that's another matter.

I guess we're all just supposed to forget that East Germany, Czechoslovakia and a bunch of other hard-core socialist countries in Europe collapsed and failed because of their hard-core socialist policies? Like all those failed socialist countries never existed? "Yeah well, but besides all those examples, if you don't count them... then there really aren't any examples then!"
