Good article, but I thought "...suspect something shady" was a bit much. Dishonest ("no sir, I'd never flip this"), okay. Shady? It's a friggin' signature. What "shady" act is going to be done with it that anyone signing could possibly pick up on? "Shady" probably wasn't the best choice of words IMO. Creators bothered by something of theirs being sold/resold is something I don't quite understand. Having a book personalized in some cases bothers me, even if my intention is to keep the item forever. It's admittedly a weird quirk, but so is saving funny books in plastic bags or plastic cases. I forget if it's mentioned, but this is a special book that NO ONE is supposed to be selling. I believe Marvel threatened people's jobs over this. Maybe creators feel like Spiccoli did? "If that's your comic with my signature on it doesn't that make it OUR copy?"

Some people ComicBookDB is closing down and some people are panicking. This guy said "I have been trying to use GCD the past few days, but so many of the books are lacking details and cover photos. The site is so far behind ComicBookDB." Huh? The GCD has 800,000 cover scans and ComicBookDB has 450,000. The GCD has 1.6 million issues catalogued while ComicBookDB has 470,000. He must be a Modern speculator/flipper

Meaning maybe he's accessing the site from a smart phone, tablet, etc. Is ComicBookDB a better resource for moderns, variants, etc.?

He must be a Modern speculator/flipper Classic "Operator Error". Either that, or he's referring to brand spanking new books, which I have no idea how well GCD covers.

"I have over 6,000 books logged in there - all with cover photos - and now it's just going into the garbage?
I've spent days on that site logging in information and using it as a tool to keep my own collection in check. It was great for looking up creators and artists and it was just a wealth of information.
So what do I do now?"
As William Shatner said - get a life!

I think I might have tried the site before, but if I didn't continue to do so, it's because something about it was lacking. I honestly don't recall what the site even looked like.

I have ComicBase which is a pretty good cataloging program with tons of information. The only problem is it's pretty expensive which requires yearly renewals if you want an updated list of new books.

I like ComicbookDB Never contributed but I found it helpful and easy to use when looking for info. I haven't been able to access it from the UK in about two years. It's either the site has restricted access to US only or my internet provider is crusading against pirated information

I've never been anti-ComicBookDB, I was surprised by the BS spouted by CBDB homers is all. The comparisons weren't meant to diss CBDB but to plainly show they were wrong.
