In London yesterday and we visited my usual comic shop. My daughter bought her first ever comic book...
It came straight out the bag at the restaurant we visited for lunch and she read it until the food arrived. I still haven't see this movie Don't. It leaves you cold.

I bought these from eBay yesterday. All from the same seller who stated cases and discs are in "Like New" condition and no scratches or fingerprints on discs...said he handled each disc carefully when viewed. I haven't received these yet, eBay pics are the ones I am posting. Seller has good feedback, but I begged him to PLEASE pack well because I don't want the cases to get damaged, especially TNG ones. I am crossing my fingers! These were the very first DVD releases of TOS & TNG, so before any of the so called sfx improvements were made.
TOS - $79.99 + $15.95 priority shipping
TNG - $69.99 + $16.95 priority shipping
When these first came out they were rather expensive. Each TOS with 2 episodes sold for around $15-20. I believe TNG sets were over $100 each when they first came out??

The seller mailed my DVD's today and he even sent me pictures of how well he packed them.

I can't believe I just won this eBay auction of all 3 seasons of TOS (NEW, still sealed) for ONLY $37 plus $6.99 shipping! Nice sets, used to own them years ago. Ok, think I am done buying Star Trek DVD's for awhile.

I just bought the entire original Star Trek series on bluray. Although I have the whole series on VHS (taped off TV many years ago) I've been itching to get a set that has complete episodes AND the original special effects.

I have it all on digital HD and I love it, but...always wanted the original sfx like you. I think the newer sfx are amazing and look great...but, I still want to watch it all in original form...original effects...original skin tones, etc.

Great purchases, Bryan! The original sets look very nice and well handled.
Those boxsets above are the version I have. Remastered but with the original special effects. The picture has been cleaned up but it still looks fairly similar to the broadcast version. The episodes have been put in Stardate order rather than broadcast order. It's a little off putting at times. My advice is to watch the Kirk pilot Where No Man Has Gone Before first, which is third on disc 1.
Oh and if you binge watch S1 and S2, you'll get sick of the "love violins" very quickly

I'll try watching it with the updated special effects first. Has it been adapted to widescreen?

Not adapted to widescreen Bats, although I am actually surprised it has not been since the original Wonder Woman series has been converted to widescreen even though it was shot in 4:3 full screen aspect ratio. That said, I have to admit WW looks damn amazing cleaned up and in widescreen!!

The exterior Enterprise shots look cheesy to me. I will say that the shot of the planets through the bridge viewscreen look good but I want to see that generic Star Trek planet graphic when they are in orbit. Perfect example is at 1:39 or so. I want that old green planet

Check out this one at 2:46. There's nothing wrong with the orientation of the original image and the effects and yet the new effects make the whole thing look completely different. To me, that's an example of "fixing" something that didn't need to be fixed.

As an aside, packaging these days is cheap as hell. My new bluray set comes in the flimsiest plastic piece of container you can imagine. I was actually shocked when I took it out of the box. I miss the old days when discs came in solid plastic clamshells or sturdy boxes.
