I recently put together a reader run of 1 to about 85 I think. Looking forward to reading them. i never paid much attention to the Defenders.

I don't mean to be rude, but...I hated the Defenders! They never fit in, seemed forced as a team upon us! Defenders...New Defenders...CRAP IMO!  Please don't hate me for hating them!  |

I don't mean to be rude, but...I hated the Defenders! They never fit in, seemed forced as a team upon us! Defenders...New Defenders...CRAP IMO! Please don't hate me for hating them! They were an odd team, especially in the 80s when they were primarily made up of B and C (maybe even D) list superheroes. |

I was lukewarm on the title as a kid, but reading it later I developed an appreciation for the series. The best stuff is prior to #50(or so) IMO. I don't mean to be rude, but...I hated the Defenders! They never fit in, seemed forced as a team upon us! Defenders...New Defenders...CRAP IMO! Please don't hate me for hating them! To me, Hulk and Dr. Strange of that era weren't suited to be part of a team, so that always bugged me. Sub-Mariner as well, to some degree. He was in Invaders and Super Villain Team-Up at the same time, so I imagine plenty of readers had trouble identifying who exactly the character was. As for characters not fitting in or seeming forced, I think the Champions still hold that distinction. To me, that was an odd mix of characters. |
