One of the most frustrating parts of eBay as a buyer is the immense amount of listings that aren't anywhere near GPA...like 2 to 3 or more TIMES GPA, for regularly traded items. In this case, Batman #404 9.8 signed by Miller. Miller has gone down down down. There are currently two listings on eBay for this book. One at $900, one at $800. The last four sales...? $256, $425, $271, $260. Now...far be it from me to say you can't price what you want...of course you can, and I do, and I price aggressively, for sure. But I DO NOT KNOWINGLY price books at TWICE or THREE TIMES GPA for regularly traded (that is, books that have 3 or more sales in the last 3 months) books, and I'll CERTAINLY consider GPA offers. I made an offer of $275 PLUS their shipping...higher than THREE of the last FOUR sales...and it was auto-rejected. These people are running museums.

Yeah, there is a museum aspect to it but I think some of them are simply hoping for someone lazy enough not to do their due diligence and hit the bin anyway.

I suppose...but when you study GPA, you almost never see these sorts of " purchases" recorded there, in general. Sure, there's the oddball, but, for the most part, you don't see someone paying 2 to 3 times GPA for anything, speaking of regularly traded books. Take a New Mutants #98 9.8....you've got 40 sales since the beginning of the year...2.5 months...and the price has been between $578 and $782, with a single non-eBay (probably Clink?) sale at $1025. But there's a dope listing it for $1500...2 to 3 times current well-established FMV. I mean, I know people are lazy...but are they THAT lazy...? Doesn't look like it.

You know, when you put it that way, I think you're right.
It would be different if GPA showed more evidence

Sunk costs on the 2016 Miller books (in particular) were extremely high in the initial phase. Then subsequently lowered to insure maximum participation (read: cash grab) leading to rapid spiraling downward of prices. In this particular case, if you bought the 404 graded and got in at the very beginning, you will have far more in that book than current GPA pricing. So, price for the long play, wait for the glut to dry up, and hope to get back to prior levels.

PS: If it sounds like I have intimate painful experience with this phenomenon, then your reading comprehension is good.

I'm running a museum where the exhibits are for sale.
