This was in the "Remember This" thread, but I didn't want to derail it further, so I started this new thread.
There's lots of theories but nothing proven. Whatever's causing it, it's because we're doing something differently to when we were kids and when our grandparents were kids.
I would start with what we're putting in and on our bodies.
I loved Taco Bell and McD's as much as the next guy...and miss it quite a bit...but my fat ass is living testimony to the they sell as "food."
Think about sunscreen...sunscreen can work one of two (or both) ways: with a chemical or mineral (physical) barrier. Chemically, most sunscreens use Oxybenzone, which is considered an endocrine disruptor, can reduce sperm count in men and may contribute to endometriosis in women.

Think about this: there are "drugs" being sold (like "Avodart") which are so toxic, they must not be handled by women or children, even touched. Merely coming into contact with the drug can cause birth defects in pregnant women, and it can be absorbed through the skin.

And that's supposed to help people...?
What are we doing to ourselves? We haven't even BEGUN to understand the incredibly complex biochemistry of the human body, but we think we can "fix" things and make things better through our limited understanding of chemistry?
It's like trying to swat a fly with a tank....there's gonna be a lot of collateral damage.
And for what...? Well, for big Pharma, it's money.
Good point. Why are so many kids nowadays allergic to peanuts and strawberries? What are we doing to our offspring to weaken them so?
