I broke my cherry today. After over 50 years buying comics I finally sold something today. I have never, ever sold a comic book before. Well, today I did. Kinda. It wasn't a comic book, but I did sell 2 pieces of Comic OA. I listed the first one on CAF and then on the CGC OA Marketplace. It was a John Buscema / Tom Palmer Avengers #74 page from their first run on the title. 5 minutes after I posted on the CGC boards, it sold on CAF. It sold so quickly I prolly should'a asked a higher price. Mebbe not. So I put a second page on CAF, a Buscema Sub-Mariner #4 page, and before I could post it on the CGC Marketplace, it sold on CAF. That CAF is like swimming in shark infested waters, they strike fast! Then I got a dozen more requests to see if any of my other CAF stuff was for sale (which it ain't). If it's not in the FOR SALE folder, it is not for sale. Not that I mind anyone asking. So now I feel like a dealer. Well, a collector / dealer, anyways. One thing; the Subby page sold to a guy in France, and now I'm looking at International FedEx and USPS rates so I can get an idea what to charge him for shipping. What a pain - FedEx is more expensive, and it doesn't appear they will insure above $1000 value. USPS is cheaper, and I can get insurance up to $2499 (closer to the OA value) BUT USPS only handles the delivery up to French customs, and then the local postal service takes over. I am reminded as to why I've seen so many sellers limit sales to U.S., and sometimes Canada, only. You guys probably know most of this, since most of you sell stuff all the time. Anyway, just thought I'd share a landmark in my collecting life. I'm getting older, so this may just be a portent of things to come. It kinda feels good to let go.

Congrats Ben!
Yeah, I hate to be a jerk about international selling, but there's so much downside and risk that I just don't if there's a domestic market for the item.
Put some pics up if you get a chance...I'd like to see the items.

The Buscema/Palmer Avengers page The Sub=Mariner #4 page that never made it to the CGC Marketplace Any "tanning around the edges of the page (or in the middle) is due to my scanner or the stiching software (I have to scan modern art in 2 pieces and large art in 4) and the edges "lift" off the glass a little because of the scanner bezel, causing some discoloration). The scanner also makes any slight defects - stains, tape, etc. darker than in real life.

Congrats on your first sale. Selling is a dream of mine and I would like to get back into it someday.

That Avengers page is FANTASTIC! I'm not at all shocked it sold so quickly- Congrats!
So, any seller's remorse? Even a little? I think I've run only 2 fair sized sales and let go of some books I now really wish I hadn't (FF 48-50, 52, New Mutants 87, 98(undercopy)).

It is nice; can't go wrong with Buscema & Palmer. I guess a little remorse. I haven't packed them up yet (still awaiting payments) but they are separated from the herd, so I kinda miss them already. I'm gettin' older - I can't hold on to all this stuff forever - I've been threatening myself to sell some things for awhile now. What I really need to start getting rid of is some comics. Lots'a doubles & triples I could part with, but hardly any of my books are super-high or high grade, so selling some OA first gets more cash per transaction. Today I realized how much time it takes to list stuff, go back & forth on a few emails to nail down shipping (especially overseas!), and get packaging ready. I'm sure the process will streamline with a bit of experience - but this was only 2 items - I can't imagine processing dozens of books at a time, unless buyers buy multiple items. We will see how it goes. Maybe I'll scan a few comics, one of these days.

I hate you. By the time I started collecting in earnest (1990), OA was so far out of my price range. Cheap by today's standards, but to a high school senior, not so much.

I've only dabbled in OA but I have a few cool pieces. Couple Russ Heath GI Combat pages. One Kirby Kamandi page. Adam Hughes Page from that issue of JLA where they battle Despero . A nice Grell Warlord page. Byrne Superman page. Couple others

You're slipping....that took you 6 minutes to see that. I was trying to think of a witty way to say it, but after much backspacing just went with the caveman approach

Hey Ben...if you wouldn't mind (and no problem if you do), would you be willing to share what you paid for these pieces, where you obtained them, and how much you sold them for?
That's always the most appealing to me. Like the folks who bought Romita Spidey covers from Esposito for $300 in the very early 90's, that are now worth $100k.
That stuff fascinates me.
