Speaking of Ditko, I just received Ditko Unleashed from a CGC board member and I'm quite impressed. A beautiful book; it's 375 pages, lots of examples of Ditko's art & what looks like quite a bit of commentary (in both Spanish & English). A companion to the recent Ditko exhibition in Palma, I believe.
Gonna start reading tonight. I can't wait!

It looks like a good read. It's been a great read so far. Lots of emphasis on Ditko's early years with Charlton. Good commentary on the development of his art and technique, in regard to both his drawing and storytelling ability. It's the kind of book I don't breeze through, I read the commentary then study the appropriate pages. 5-10 pages a night, then bedtime. I'm up to his early ASM days, not even half way through the book. As a critique, I'd say some of the pictures are small for these old pair of eyes to focus on; but not the OA from the exhibit, though. Those are all full page. As a hard core Ditko fan, the book is (so far) required reading.

The people that put that together also did the John Buscema book and the Wally Wood 'Woodwork' book - great stuff, but... that Ditko book looks like an even more amazing piece of work!

Very nice! I've looked at these over on Ditko's site and contemplated buying a few. As much of a fan as I am, I've never pulled the trigger - what say you? Are they worth the few bucks? They seem to be more a curiosity than anything else. Am I mistaken?

I've thought about buying a few and seeing how they look.
I'm not sure about value. I think it's cool that he's still producing.

I thought the Ditko self published stuff you posted were yours and that's why I asked what you thought. Sorry, my mistake. Also about value, I meant (if they were yours and you had read the contents), did you think they were worth the few bucks that they cost on Ditko's website. I agree that it's cool that the man is still producing.

I heard something about these letters being slabbed?A shame if so,I don't think Steve would keep sending lettrs if he heard about it.

That IS a shame, because (even though he's a bit terse and grumpy at times) I think the only reason he does it is because he values his fans. If he gets the impression that the only reason people are writing him is to flip a slab on eBay, then he probably WILL stop...heck, I wouldn't waste my time either. That actually pisses me off a bit. People are such assholes sometimes.
