I have one PGX graded golden age book. Now I'm wondering if the book is complete. I mean, I knew the risk when I bought the book but it sucks that so many books are coming back with all of these defects. Crack it open and have a look. You know, just to make sure it's complete...

I should but I know I'll be pissed if I find out it's incomplete. I guess it's better not to know. The book is Jackpot #5.

You say that, but one day you'll find a screwdriver lying around and temptation will get the better of you...
JK, cool book.

Just follow the golden rule.
Never EVER buy a PGX slab. Just not worth rolling the dice

Oh poo. That REALLY stinks.I'm going to follow that thread and hopefully it plays out well for him..but I don't see it happening. Oh...he's screwed. First of all, I don't think he's going to make the new July 10th eBay deadlines on filing a claim and getting the book back in the hands of the seller. Second, it's not an 'item not as described.' He bought a PGX-graded X-Men #1 and he received it (no doubt had to sign for it too). Third, I seriously doubt that eBay is going to make a decision on which grading company made the mistake. He sent it in to another grading company, and they disagree with the first grading company. Who's to say it wasn't damaged by the former (certainly a claim that PGX would probably make if they were ever involved in this case - which they won't be). This is why I never buy graded books over a certain value. With a raw book I can inspect it myself, thoroughly check for restoration and verify that the grade is reasonably within a range of tolerance. You can't do that with graded books unless you can see damage through several layers of plastic and newton rings. And if you crack it open, you can't send it back. Having said all this, I have no doubt PGX either missed or willfully neglected to include the missing pages in the grade. They are sleazy. But buyers need to do their own due diligence, and a simple internet search would raise enough red flags for most people to walk away from it. (I know you know all this Jimmers, I'm just piggybacking off your post )

You can bid on a CGC .5 (currently @ $900), or a CGC 3.0 BIN for 2K. I don't know how the buyer will get his money out of this purchase.

It seems like the buyer was trying his luck with the PGX book and lost. Its well known that people have bought PGX graded books and had them regraded by CGC at either the same grade or slightly lower. In any case a CGC graded book is going to sell for more than a PGX book. The buyer screwed himself on this one.

I dunno, common sense and all that. Unless you are a gambler, then by all means....but PGX, to me, just not worth the risk/reward

Until I read these posts I had no knowledge of PGX. I was looking at a PGX copy of Batman #260 on eBay graded 9.0 and could not help notice the comic was laying crooked in the case! At first I thought the cover was off centered, which it was, but not that much... It was actually tilted to one side in the case. Is this normal?

I've seen books crooked in other slabs as well.
