Did you guys know that Buddy Saunders, owner of MyComicShop, is also a whackjob conspiracy fruitcake? Reading his blog makes me want to stop buying from MCS. The only reason I don't is because Conan is much more level-headed and seems to be the one really in charge. Reading that has sure cast a gloomy cloud over my day. When Buddy gets around to saying he watched/heard “several State committee meetings on the subject” (of the stolen election) that convinced him it was fact, I had to really wonder how he got to this place in his head? I wonder too, why I believe so differently from him and countless others who believe the election was fraudulent? I mean, I really think these people are ridiculous, and sadly I suspect they would think the same about me. There are many things in history that are nearly impossible to prove as they are happening.
One example is when there are classified documents that become declassified over time and revelations are made about things that people suspected but couldn't prove.
Or someone covers their tracks well enough as was done for the last year about potential origins of the Covid virus where the truth is slowly rising to the surface.
But people still have a sense of what might and might not be true. Tuskagee, JFK assassination, 9/11, WMD in Iraq - they were ALL surrounded by many controversies.
Like the Russian collusion last year. So many people were totally convinced that it was true, that Trump was colluding and he was condemned for 4 years in a court of public opinion. I personally didn't believe it to be true but didn't care because as I said they'd sort it out.
And now it comes out that it was a smear campaign with no substance and no proof. Where is the accountability? Where is the justice?
In similar manner, WE don't really REALLY know what happened behind the curtain on this election. Some may know but they're playing their cards close.
What we DO know is that there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes and the truth will eventually come out [hopefully] just like it did with the accusations of Russian collusion and other things that were pushed to be true but were found to be false.
What we DO know is that the most powerful thing is the media and that the media swings public opinion like nothing else and if most of the media swings one way that will change the outcome of public opinion. I think it's possible that this is what happened with the election.
And the more you try to suppress it the greater the opposition will be, whether true or not. That's just psychology 101

Just suppose that nothing happened behind the curtain? I have yet to hear of any evidence beyond a lot of shouting and fist shaking that say it’s so.

There is far too much BS going on that has been exposed from behind the curtain for people to take anyone leader's word at their face value any longer and the honest leaders, the people who someone may really, REALLY trust, they never make it to the top.
The trust has been eroded and that is the main problem. In politics, in science, in the stock market...in everything.
Not to pick a side, but if the Russian collusion is now coming out that it was a false smear campaign, why would any Trump supporter trust anything that a democrat who supported the smear campaign says?
Once bitten twice shy, right?

Oh, boo hoo. Cry me a river. You know what's great about the relationship between John and Serj? They can completely disagree and they still love and respect each other. That's the lesson I wold take from that. Not that one is wrong and one is right.
I know John well and he's outspoken about his beliefs and he can articulate why he believes what he does without calling anyone names. I say more power to him and Serj because that's what democracy is about.
The only reason they get along is because they agree on the Armenian issues. Dolmayan is just as big a fruitloop as you are.

Because I don’t think otherwise healthy and well adjusted people should see duplicity and subterfuge every time something doesn’t go their way.

Myself, I hold what i think is a healthy skepticism until I have a reason not to believe something. But my family's history leads me to that skepticism because they are from a place where things weren't fair.
But even though I may have suspicions something, I'm all for following the rules and going through proper channels. For example, I may have had suspicious about the way the pandemic was handled I still followed all the rules and recommendations to beat the pandemic
I think social media is winding people up - that's what it is engineered to do, love it or hate it, and this is the fallout we now get from 15+ years of it.

Until you realize how wrong you are and won't admit it and backpedal and deflect. As you serve your 3 week vacation right after your 2 week vacation, maybe you should do a little soul searching as to why so many people think you're a baby's diaper full of Indian food? Whatta ya say Chip?

Social media sure does it’s job! I can’t imagine younger kids today growing up and not knowing what it was like to live without it.

Social media sure does it’s job! I can’t imagine younger kids today growing up and not knowing what it was like to live without it. I actually try to teach them that as often as I can. My kids were the 'transition' generation. They all got phones in their late teens so they can sort of remember it.
I was just explaining to them how special a movie theater used to feel to us as kids growing up because we couldn't all just watch whatever we wanted whenever we wanted and I think they 'got it' now that movie theaters are shut down.
Thankfully, I don't think they're too addicted to SM because they all seem to be reasonably balanced.
Have you got kids?

No, no children. I like kids, but there was always a good reason at the time not to go down that path. Yeah, the movie theaters going away on some level is real. For all the ways we’re seemingly connected via phone, text, chat, etc., it sure feels like we have far less community than we used to.

In my opinion you can draw a parallel between listening to live music vs radio and communicating in person vs text and social media.
You can never replace the real life experience no matter how hard you try and I agree that we have less community.
We're worse of for it.

There are many things in history that are nearly impossible to prove as they are happening.

Just suppose that nothing happened behind the curtain? I have yet to hear of any evidence beyond a lot of shouting and fist shaking that say it’s so. 2 words. hillary clinton. it may have slipped out of the conscious mind that the clintons and the supporting cast stated the exact same complaint, and did so for 4 years, on a constant public forum basis...media, news programs entertainment talk shows, non-journalism journalism shows.... and 2 speeches to congress and 4 appearances before congressional and senate select committees. i am not on purpose leaving out the dossier that wasn't, which has so far found 3 fbi agents guilty of crimes/misdemeanors, a loss of trust (by both major political parties) in an fbi director and a cia director, and the indictment of a governor and 2 corporate entities and their officers. i leave it out because it has not reached a conclusion.
