If Wikipedia is to be believed, a Parkway is a scenic route that bigger vehicles - like trucks - aren't able to use. Is that correct?

Early parkways were built with scenic travel in mind, but essentially before the automobile was a common method of travel. The reason many parkways prohibit vehicles over certain weights harkens back to design not suited for the volume of auto traffic yet to come and/or being built along hills or waterways that cause traffic to flow much slower than roadway designed in the more modern era(s).
