I think I mentioned, I just started re-watching this series again. I am about 10 episodes deep into a 400+ episode marathon. I love it! Same complaints about cooking competitions over here though - they might spend half the time allotted to them showing these guys cook. Out of 40 minutes or so, 20 minutes are all we see of two people who have an hour each to cook. I'd cut down on the start of the show, just about cut out the second introduction, and spend most of the time on the cooking, and the next largest amount of time on the tasting. Our (English, pardon, American) shows barely give you half, and some of that time is spent SHOWING THE PERSON THEY ARE TALKING TO JUST SITTING THERE, instead of it being a voice-over while showing the action. I am looking at you, "Chopped"! I really wanted to like that show, but showing people sitting down talking about what they were cooking, instead of, y'know, SHOWING THEM COOKING while talking, irked me enough that I never made it to the end of S1.
On a similar note, Iron Chef America is coming back again. The first iteration with Shatner was horrible, but then again, it lasted all of two episodes. The later version was better, but I still couldn't watch but a couple of seasons. The newest one will have Alton Brown as The Chairman, so I have higher hopes. Look for it in the spring or summer of this year.

A lot of the Food Network shows are as much about entertainment and the judges/hosts as they are actual cooking. Actually, it's probably more like 65-75%. Food Network is more about personalities than it is about food.

Tonight, while my wife is making corned beef and cabbage for her and her mom, I will be having the traditional St Patrick's Day ravioli

I am going to attempt to make sourdough pancakes later on. Probably will fail miserably. Wish me luck!

So, it turns out I like regular pancakes better than sourdough pancakes. They were very tender, very pretty things. I shan't be making them again.

I love ravioli. My wife calls it "dog food".
