Just remembering when my brother and I attended Wizard World Sacramento last year and met Neal Adams. My brother asked him something so while Mr. Adams was responding I was going between glancing at the items he was displaying and facing him as I listened, making eye contact from time to time. At one point my brother actually turned away  and started saying something completely unrelated to his brother-in-law (a non-comic fan who just wanted to tag along  )- and while Mr. Adams was in mid-sentence. I don't know if my eyes actually went wide or not, but they did mentally  , and I was in that instant mortified; A real "I'm not with this guy" moment. I quickly gave Neal all my attention letting him know that I caught every word. And since my hearing isn't the best, and I'm 6' 3", I knelt down so I could hear him better. And, perhaps in some small way, to beg forgiveness. Because I was with this guy  . But Neal was cool, and enjoyed describing his 'Odyssey' storyline (minus spoilers) to me. If only I could attend more Cons, I'd have him draw a quick profile of different characters on the blank black pages that separate the chapters (1 at each Con or each year, since I'm sure he or one of his many clones are at each show).  |
