I'm actually quite surprised to read some of you, who I assume to have larger collections than my 4600 books, haven't found any in the wild. 3 discoveries out of 4600 was starting to make me think they're not as "rare" as I thought. Most of the ones I posted were found in the wild (not purchased on eBay) but then again I worked at a comic book store, does that count? It's the reprint books I posted mostly, I wouldn't have purchased them if they weren't double covers. The Tigra book I remember being a surprise because it was cheap (I bought it for my John Byrne collection) and I didn't count the pages when I bought it at a different store. Jeffro, you ever go to Buried Under Comics in Manchester?

Jeffro, you ever go to Buried Under Comics in Manchester? I've been there but only a couple of times. I usually see them set up at the Plainville show.

That should've read "did you ever go to BUC in the mid 90s?" Side note: for some reason I was reminded of Glenn Jacobs, who was a subscriber at the store (might still be!).

Nice! I've never seen a double cover graded above 9.8.

After many years of collecting, I finally got a double cover book. Actually, the first four wraps were duplicated so I sent it in to get graded. I was too much work for the grading company to leaf through the book so they sent it back without mentioning the wraps.

Yes, they're going to re-holder it for me but I still haven't heard back from them on the status. My account hasn't been updated, but they've received the book so I'm hoping they'll respond back soon. Not a high dollar book but its nice if they had better communications with their customers.

I'm curious what people find as the appeal for these. Personally, I'm not interested in double covers. They're just an anomaly to me, much like price variants. I just find them without any added appeal myself.
