I suppose technically I found both my double covers in the wild. My ASM 148 (later CGC'd as a 9.6) wasn't advertised as a double cover, the seller didn't realize it when it was listed. This one was purchased locally around the late 80's. Also under the seller's radar.

Whatever happened to Longshot? I think he's a cooler character than Gambit( who I assume basically replaced him)

I have no idea. I started losing interest in mutant books in the early-mid 90's.

One of my recent purchasing binges has been devoted to Marvel's cosmic titles. I finally got a ST 178, and when scanning it I discovered I no longer had scans for my 3 copies of ST 180, probably having been accidentally deleted. So I took them out to re-scan and was reminded that one of them felt thicker than the others. At first I thought it must be one of my MJI copies, but I didn't remember ST 180 as being one. I looked through it again (I know I've gone through this with this copy already) and found no insert and nothing else out of the ordinary. I was about to put it back in the bag when, on a hunch, I decided to check the 1st page. I guess my finger "bit" just right, because as I opened it it pulled away from a 2nd cover! I stared at it for a few seconds before it really registered that I indeed discovered a hidden treat. I checked the back cover, and it too needed a little encouragement to separate. It's not even close to being as sharp as the 9.6 ASM 148 I submitted, but I love it just as much. I now have 3 double cover books, and all 3 were post purchase discoveries. This was a pleasant education in double covers, as I wasn't aware they were sometimes "stubborn" to separate. I'm 90% certain I've found a few other Bronze comics in my collection over the years that seemed thicker for no obvious reason- Now I have to go through them again I sure hope I'm right.

Wow...that's awesome!
I think this thread now belongs in Comics General, rather than hiding in the resources area. It's really grown!
Do you guys mind if I move it?
PS - this is one of my favorite threads here. I love looking at pics of double covers.

Here's my triple cover Marvel Comics Presents #72. I only recently discover it in my collection. I had bought 5 copies years ago and had them bagged all in one golden age bag. I recently took them out to bag separately. This one definitely felt heavier and when I opened it up, there were three covers. I wonder why I didn't notice before?

Wow...that's cool.
There's none in my collection. I'm one of these weird page counter/inspect everything kinda guys...so I'm sure I don't own any.
Blows me away that so many people have run across them. I wish I had.

Same. I've seen them in the wild at shops, but never owned one.
I have bought quite a few raw issues the last 3 years, I should go through and just take a look one day.

Whatever happened to Longshot? I think he's a cooler character than Gambit( who I assume basically replaced him) I have never liked Gambit. Much like Kitty Pride, I always found him to be a completely irrelevant character. Would the X-verse decline without him? Not at all. He's kind of like Daredevil for me. Another fringe character who doesn't really add much substance to the Marvel Universe.

Blows me away that so many people have run across them. I wish I had. I don't think I have any found in the wild. I suppose there might be one of two hiding in a box somewhere. The only confirmed one I have is a Richie Rich from the 90s that I bought from GACollectibles.

I'm actually quite surprised to read some of you, who I assume to have larger collections than my 4600 books, haven't found any in the wild. 3 discoveries out of 4600 was starting to make me think they're not as "rare" as I thought.
