We do realize that presentation is nearly as important as preservation. We have therefore taken steps to minimize the presence of the rainbow effect in the new CGC holders and we continue to work internally and with outside consultants and vendors to further reduce the rainbow effect. After posting several days ago, we wanted to follow up with an update on our fix of the newton effect on the new holders, and offer some insight into the situation. As mentioned earlier, once we became aware of the extent of the newton effect on some holders we made it our #1 priority to isolate and solve the issue. I'm happy to say we did find a solution that mitigated the effect, and that solution was implemented last week.
For anyone who has received new holders that exhibit excessive newton effect, we will reholder those books for free and return them to you immediately. The change has produced a dramatic improvement on those books most affected, and eliminated it on the rest that were barely affected beforehand. It's hard to convey this with only a couple of scans.
We are definitely forging ahead with plans to eliminate the newton effect completely. Even if the presence of newton at an angle has been known in the hobby for years, its elimination would be bring the holder even closer to perfection.
The three books posted by Mastrcntrlprogram were received in the mail yesterday. There is clear evidence of damage to the tops of the holders not visible in the scans. The books certainly did not leave CGC looking like this, and they arrived safely to the submitter after we shipped them to him. Although the books are shifted in the holders, they were not damaged. This is the only movement we've been notified on for all the books shipped the past six weeks. We have gotten two other orders of damaged holders in this period, but in both cases the books did not move, and were not damaged. Here are pics of one of those orders.
We are aware there have been some issues with a small percentage of our new holders and have made adjustments to our process to address them.

It is important to note that no books have been damaged whatsoever. If anyone thinks they have a holder that exhibits a slight wavy appearance, CGC would be happy to evaluate it and, if we agree with your assessment, reholder your book at no charge, as well as cover your shipping expenses. If we feel that reholdering is not warranted, we will still cover your shipping expenses. Any such returns will receive Fast Track service.

No probem I will get it shipped via UPS. Also, I tried putting these back into our new holders and I'm really just not liking how they look at all. Would you mind if I put these into our old cases? Really it's the Green Lantern book I don't like how it looks.
