Heh - side note. I had a nice long conversation with Larry Hama one year. He has some incredible Vince Colletta stories, some of which have been told online and some of which should best remain private . That's great.

There are a lot of people that dump on Colletta and forget that even at his seemingly most criticized work, he has talent above and beyond what many others did and do. The Thin Black Line: Vinnie Colletta Skip the intro. Looks like a good book and this Youtuber has some Shooter stories to tell. That book seems to be heavy on Thor and other Kirby stuff-which is the best of Colletta-if it had the Swan stuff he destroyed it would be different book for sure. just awful.

The book has some before and after artwork toward the last quarter of the video. I think there was some Swan material in there.

A good example of Kirby/Colletta.

"But it’s too easy to dismiss Colletta as nothing but a hack, and as a bit of evidence, here’s an example of his full artistic prowess. This story was published in 1954, and was both penciled and inked by Colletta. The story itself is nothing more than a knock-off of an EC story adapting one of Ray Bradbury’s prose shorts, it’s nothing special. But the artwork that Colletta produces here is really quite nice." There are a lot of people that dump on Colletta and forget that even at his seemingly most criticized work, he has talent above and beyond what many others did and do. He excelled at drawing women.

Can we maybe agree that Coletta wasnt that bad, except when he inked Curt Swan?
