VERY interesting. He would just eliminate entire people to get the job done. kirby must have been peed off. I dont detest his work on Thor-it still looks good to me but he utterly destroyed Curt Swan. I am a big Swan collector but I have NO books inked by Coletta. Left alone and with time, he was able to draw tho.

"But it’s too easy to dismiss Colletta as nothing but a hack, and as a bit of evidence, here’s an example of his full artistic prowess. This story was published in 1954, and was both penciled and inked by Colletta. The story itself is nothing more than a knock-off of an EC story adapting one of Ray Bradbury’s prose shorts, it’s nothing special. But the artwork that Colletta produces here is really quite nice."

I mean he left stuff out in Thor but it didnt hurt the eyes like with Swan. Kirby's pencils were indestructible.

Kirby's pencils were indestructible. I was just reading a Curt Swan article by the same author. Someone should ink and publish this! Wonder Woman and the Unpublished Pencils of Curt Swan

Those are some tight pencils for Swan. If it was the old days when I was drawing comics I would print out on 11 x 17 and ink-it would have been a blast.

He was THE ICONIC DC artist! No one could draw the relaxed lifelike poses he did. No one. He could draw ANYTHING.

And Colletta utterly demolished his work. From genius to garbage.

There are a lot of people that dump on Colletta and forget that even at his seemingly most criticized work, he has talent above and beyond what many others did and do.

Heh - side note. I had a nice long conversation with Larry Hama one year. He has some incredible Vince Colletta stories, some of which have been told online and some of which should best remain private .

The Thin Black Line: Vinnie Colletta Skip the intro. Looks like a good book and this Youtuber has some Shooter stories to tell.
