It's a discussion about how the "average person" is able recognize truths or what is involved in recognizing it in everyday life.
Example:
A person believes their partner is cheating on them. Their intuition and her instincts scream at them that it's happening.
But the partner denies any wrongdoing.
So where do you go from an impasse such as this one that seems deadlocked?Intuition and instincts are often informed by what is observed, even if the person is consciously unaware of the observation.
Questioning the reason or source of the belief is a good start.
Sidebar, a person I know very well had this experience: Was "happily married" and had a teenage child. One day, she briefly passes out at work at her desk, wakes up and calls her husband and asks him "You're cheating on me, aren't you?". He responds, "How did you know?" She later said she had no way of knowing or reason to even suspect (consciously) but she had a moment of clarity when she passed out and doesn't really remember WHY she all of a sudden thought that and acted on it. To this day she still doesn't know why she all of sudden "knew".
Very interesting. I love stories like this.
I have more to say but this story I'm about to tell is directly related to your point about being unconsciously unaware of making observations.
I tend to disagree in the sense that I believe that "truth" has an identifiable, recognizable energy to it. You don't need facts to support it. You can know it without facts.
How?
I believe that the truth - THE TRUTH - has a "ring" to it or an energy that you can sense if you've honed yourself to perceiving it.
Kind of like when a poker player learns an opponent's "tell".
To the rest of the world, the "tell" looks like an innocent mannerism.
The the perceptive Poker player, they see it clear as day because they've made great efforts to hone that skill.

This story is true. It happened to me 3 years ago.
I've always had a soft spot for certain birth signs.
People like to say that Astrology is garbage. Maybe there is a lot of garbage to it, but it's safe to say that MOST accumulated human knowledge contains a LOT of garbage. What we DON'T know FAR outweighs what we do know, and for that reason ALL of our observations and accumulated knowledge is tainted by our own biases.
That's why we are constantly filtering out the garbage and moving in non-garbage....but you can do that for a LIFETIME and what you DON'T KNOW will still always outstrip what you DO know.
Except namisgr. He's perfect.
But I do believe there is SOME commonality to birth signs and things like that. WHEN and WHERE you are born has ties to energy, genetics, biology, the eco-system at the time, the universe, locations and all the factors that we can't even comprehend.
It's impossible to calculate and understand all of these variables.
How is this possible? Because the entire universe is like one large, connected math equation and everything is inextricably linked to everything else in some way. We just can't see the links. Our scope is too small, limited by our human limitations.
So, now that I've set the table, this happened:
One day, I stepped into a taxi cab and before my butt even hit the ground, I blurted out "Don't tell me you're a ___[insert birth sign]____!"
The cab driver turned around an blurted out "How did you know?!?!?!?" as she turned around and stared at me.
I felt it. I was 100% sure. I knew it and said it with conviction.
And yet, how was I able to know that without never seeing this person before?
Better yet, how would namisgr explain it?
