I have an ongoing debate with Buzzetta-I believe artist is the most important factor in original art-he says character or subject. Like I say kirby is more desired than sal buscema period. He on the other hand says a buscema avengers page is way better than a kirby western page. A Ramos spider man better than a neal adams ms mystic etc.

I think it's both artist and subject.
My OA friends are always pointing out how important subject matter is to value.

I think it's both artist and subject. My OA friends are always pointing out how important subject matter is to value. They are both important eg Kirby FF #1 page 1 is important, but I think artist is more important than character/subject. A neal adams batman page is better than a ross andru first appearance of rocket racer.

In a way its a debate about what is more important, the writing or the art? Since its called an original ART page, not an original writing page, then the art should be the main thing. Any neal adams page should be worth more than a liefeld page that is the first appearance of deadpool.

I agree artist is more important that character overall. Would rather have a revered artist's random page over a page of a random artist with a favorite character. Price is also a factor of course.

All this and a bag of chips. Ditto, I love Batman but I wouldn't want to own bad Batman pages. But I'd LOVE to own anything by Adams, Wrightson or Miller even though it has nothing to do with Batman. The art style moves me, not the character.
