A Facebook story about a collector who allegedly bought a slabbed color copy of a Hulk #1 cover as a complete original, and then doubled down on his surreal stupidity by picking up a fake slabbed GA Cap #1 as well is raising eyebrows and red flags as many believe it to be no more than an attempt to troll CGC and its tamper-proof cases. A multi-part account of the alleged fraud is being posted on Facebook; here's one posting: m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02b7fNDNomBXzbnXYpLss8NMf5Up4PSjMgxbWK3pvGBmRj769DFMJPcL2JCbrAFnq8l&id=100048098476162&mibextid=Nif5ozZod saw this on another forum and some there were actually taking it seriously while others were dismissing it as a not terribly clever troll of slabbing in general and the leading operator in this area in particular. While it seems fairly obvious that this is indeed a troll, Zod is impressed that anyone was so gullible as to believe otherwise, and feels that rather than trying to dominate Earth by brute force, he simply should have offered it for lease along with shares in the Brooklyn Bridge...

UPDATE: The (alleged) buyer of the (alleged) fake books has now belatedly provided concrete details missing from his original Facebook posts. As incredible as it seems based on his sketchy and outlandish original reports, he actually might have been scammed as he's claimed. How a collector active for several decades could be conned in this manner is nothing short of astonishing. But if this is indeed the case, Zod has even more severely underestimated the gullibility of your species than he'd previously believed.

Translation: "I'm so smart nothing like this would ever happen to me nyaa nyaa nyaa nyaaa nyaa". It's always high fun for some people to use other's misfortunes as an opportunity to crow about how smart they are. people buy slabs all the time and do not crack them but nothin like this would ever happen to him due to his overlarge cranium

The story is very strange.
Like a work of fantasy or science fiction.
The details, and manner in which the alleged victim first brought his news to light, are almost incredible.
Did age and some degree of attendant lessened cognition play a part in all this?
If so, and if this was known to the alleged perpetrator of this alleged fraud, the story takes on a more sinister cast.
More details in the months ahead; much speculation in the meantime.
