There was a girl in my high school who I really liked. One day, I happened to notice her locker combination as she was putting it in, so I thought it would be romantic if I opened it and left a surprise inside for her. So, I left a note with a rose and a poem on her top shelf. The next day, the principal called my parents and security took me to his office to ask why I was harassing the girl.
That was quite an embarrassing ordeal…

Why do action movies always have a romance angle? Romance movies don't have an action angle. Why do guy movies have to have scenes for women? Romance movies don't have scenes for men. This is microaggression.

so tired of stun guns knocking ppl out in movies. in the 70s and 80s it was the karate chop to the neck now its stun guns.

I tried to watch blade runner 2049 I really did. But it seemed to be about a guy who mopes from place to place staring at a photo of a tree. He meets various people who spout shakespearean type lines that are meant to sound profound but are actually just excuses for having no plot. Of course the reviewers love stuff that 'seems profound' so it got rave reviews.

eye balls in movies are always WAY too small. and ps they have muscles attached to 'em with tendons? look at the size of iris compared to ball hollywood vs reality.   |

I always tell a writer if you havent read any books on screenplay writing you are wasting your time. read at least 2, then start writing. there's just too much they dont know and too many common mistakes they will make. best thing is think of a definite goal and obstacle for the protagonist. goal is something he absolutely needs-obstacle is all the things preventing him from getting it. eg in 'ransom' goal was getting his kid back. obstacle was the kidnappers, the fact that the kidnappers wouldnt give kid back even if they got money, cops and wife who opposed his plan to not pay ransom. put your character between a rock and a hard place then squeeze. dialogue/characterization skills-thats what i look for first then i make sure theres a definite and riveting goal/obstacle once writer has crossed that hurdle. first i see if they can write character, then i see if the plot is solid with the G/O. mostly i see people writing GENRE. 'a zombie story' 'a crime story' etc. as if thats enough. character first, then plot, who cares what the genre is-thats what the geniuses dont seem to get. if possible i would try to wean yourself off any idea of genius-it is a super hindrance. instead think of yourself as a craftsman but you build stories instead of cabinets. nothing special about you. that makes the BEST writers..... Millions of GENIUSES out there-we already have PLENTY. we need something else..... AND AVOID THE 'JADED' CHARACTER!!! People think this is cool as hell but it is instead derivative as hell and boring as hell. If your character doesn't care about anything, why should the reader care about them?  This seems so obvious but I see a lot of "Jaded" character 'Cool' scripts......ugh.... |
