barry The other thing worth talking about is that a short article rebuttal can't possibly encompass the groundwork laid out on a longform discussion like Mearsheim does to explain his ideology. Mearsheim is discussing ideological principles borne out of an analysis going back 30+ years and he states MANY things that support his ideology. One example (if you listened to entire video, not sure if you did) is that Mearsheimer pushed for Ukraine to keep their nuclear weapons back in the early 90s and it was Clinton who pushed Ukraine into not giving them up. Clinton today has openly stated he regrets that move and would not have done it looking back. He had the wisdom and the foresight to outmaneuver and outhink a US president. Russia would have been far less likely to attack today should Ukraine had held that position. Also worth noting is that Putin is painted in the media as being this ruthless, sadistic leader, when in fact, the same can be said of many Western or "Democratic" leaders. The Israel / Palestine war has killed more civilians in one month than Putin killed in 18 months. Being of Slavic descent, and European background - ANYONE of European background sees Russia differently than the portrayal in the West. Many Europeans don't have that view of Putin that the West does. I have American friends that live in Moscow. Like RIGHT NOW. They love Russia. They love Moscow. And much like when my family was being bombed by NATO in Serbia in 1999, and the story in the news THEN wasn't what was being shown here, the story in the news in the West today is not what's happening here. Mearsheim builds the case that Putin is actually taking a VERY RESERVED approach to this war.
This rings true. This is why the war is taking so long. Not because Russia CAN'T win. It's because Russia doesn't just want to level everything.
Every one of these things ring true to me. Especially against the lies of the US media. Mearsheim's entire ideology and his matter of fact openness in this interview paints a very different picture than the American media does...and there's a reason for that. The media is a far worse, far more powerful PROPAGANDA machine than most are still willing to admit. It is almost FULLY corrupt. LIVING IN THE WEST IS LIKE LIVING BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN 40 YEARS AGO. The only people who can't see it are the people who refuse to see it. I think ANYONE who cares about what's going on in the world really should take the time to listen to this entire video rather than get their news from CNN, the lead propaganda channel of the Western Bloc.

It was really tough experience. You needed to stand in queues for everything. For example, it were two separate shops adjacent to each other. One was called ‘Milk’ another ‘Bread’. They sold the respective products only  . So it took me one hour to buy a three-liter can of milk, then I went to the next store and just after another 40 minutes I bought couple loaves of bread. If you needed, for example, home refrigerator or a TV it was a special virtual queue which gathered every Thursday on the main square of the town and there were special people who tracked your numbers in their paper notebooks. If you missed one check-in you were no longer in the queue. So we bought a refrigerator after a month of such an experience and colour TV after two months.(imagine standing in a line for 1–2 hours on minus 20 Centigrade during the Ural winter every Thursday when you are 8–10 y.o. kid) Crime was also extreme back then. This was the time when people started changing their wooden doors to the bunker-alike steel one and defending the windows with metal bars, literally like in jails. There were no shopping malls, only two or three TV channels, showing basically the same stuff with tremendous amount of propaganda. Even with the queues the lack of basic food was terrible. My mother was in a business trip to Moscow and she brought two 12-liters buckets of oranges from there. That was a memorable event. Once we eat all the oranges we made a syrup from the peels and enjoyed it for another couple of months…. Back then it seemed completely normal because everyone lived more or less in the same conditions except high-profile Communist Party members. Now it seems a complete nightmare to me, but many people in Russia are still nostalgic about that time I don’t know why. Sure it was slightly different mood in the big cities, where people still could get an apartment from the government for free and food and consumer goods supply were much better. |

While the Biden Government is in the Supreme Court for violating the 2nd Amendment, censoring free speech, pushing misinformation and suppressing truthful information (it's unequivocal - they did it), the same Government is now pushing to enact laws to teach school children from Kindergarten to Grade 12 how to "root out misinformation".The liars will teach children how to stop lies. New York State and California are already passing laws to make it a part of the curriculum. In Canada, Trudeau has passed laws that have forbidden the sharing of news over social media. It was passed under the guise of economic fairness, because social media wasn't paying news sites their fair share but we all know every bad law is passed under the guise of having "good" intentions. Australia did 2 years ago what Canada just did this past summer. The current neo-Liberal Governments around the world have without question been the greatest source of misinformation on the planet, and they are now going to police the airwaves and indoctrinate your children. We are quite literally in the early stages of a massive censorship and indoctrination campaign there the Governments will program your children how to think and what the general public is allowed to see. This all seems to be coming from the top down through the World Economic Forum, as all countries that are involved seem to be pushing towards the same goal. What is happening is the type of thing Hitler and Caucesco would have done. There is no way this is OK. Literally everything on the airwaves is the exact opposite of the truth. The average person would be better served to do the opposite of what the media states. This is crazy. |

You just Google things speciously like Dr. Google namisgr without understand how systems work. Russia and the Iron Curtain didn't START that way, it ENDED THAT WAY!  When the communist and authoritarian states could no longer keep up the charade, and when citizens were hungry and tired of their government's oppression, they either revolted and shot their leaders, or the iron curtain fell under political pressure because all of their economic might had withered and they had no other option. BUT IT TOOK DECADES TO GET THERE. The US is in the early stages of repeating the same mistakes that all authoritarian regimes made. They capture the media, preventing the free exchange of ideas, and then they they indoctrinate the masses. This removal of the free exchange of ideas also removes the freedom from markets, causing them to inevitably collapse. My family LIVED it.  You are quite literally talking out of ignorance and relying on Google. My 1st wife grew up in that. She was born in 1970. When she came to Canada and saw a grocery store for the 1st time with her mom in 1988, they literally cried. They couldn't believe what they saw. Shelves full of fruit and vegetables. I went to Serbia to visit in around 1997 and all I saw was empty store shelves, even then. Literally EMPTY. That was the end product of what started many years prior. In America, this is just the beginning. |

Clinton thought Mearsheimer was credible enough to admit he was wrong 30 years ago with his foreign policy decisions in Europe. So not quite the snake oil salesman you made him out to be, right.  It's convenient to just brush away the competition, but that's not how getting to the truth works. |
